From the Aberdeen Police Department:
Members of the Aberdeen Police Department, in conjunction with the Harford County Health Department, have been trained and equipped with Naloxone Nasal Spray to help prevent deaths related to opioid overdoses.
Opioid related overdoses have spiked sharply in recent years causing countless related fatalities nationwide. The City of Aberdeen has not been immune to the tragic byproduct of misuse and abuse of prescription opioids, heroin, or a combination of both used together with other drugs and alcohol. Now officers have a nasal spray that can be administered to counteract the effects of someone who has overdosed and potentially save a life.
Naloxone Nasal Spray, also known by the trade name Narcan, is not a controlled dangerous substance and cannot be abused. Naloxone issued to officers will be administered through intra-nasal spray.
The Aberdeen Police Department is committed to making a difference in citizen’s lives and by providing someone a second chance at life there is hope it may encourage that person to seek treatment.
Kharn says
Step 1: Apply Narcan
Step 2: Fisticuffs
Step 3: Book for assault on a police officer
Step 4: Taxpayers on the hook for 2-3 years in the Harford Hilton
