Legislation Bill 15-003 – Apartments Condominiums and Special Event

Location: Council Chambers, 212 S. Bond St, Bel Air
The purpose of this bill is to provide for the mandatory collection of recycling at apartments and condominiums containing 10 or more units and at events occurring after October 1, 2015 that are held on public streets or parks, serve food or drinks and are expected to attract 200 or more people; and generally relating to recycling. A fine of $50/day for non-compliance is included in the bill. This is included in the Solid Waste Management Plan, Bill 15-004.

Bills are introduced in one session, a time for future public testimony is scheduled (usually 2 – 3 weeks after the bill is published), and then the bill is voted on. Public testimony is your chance to be heard (3-minute time limit). You may also send comments to the council by that date.

The purpose of this bill is to describe the existing and planned County programs which will provide for the comprehensive management of solid waste generated by the County’s residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and public sectors during the ten-year 2015 – 2024. The legislation provides for acceptance of the Plan itself.
