A fire which broke out in a one-and-a-half story barn in White Hall gutted the structure and killed several cattle, fire officials said.
The fire was reported by a passerby in a large barn in the 5100 block of Jolly Acres Road in White Hall at 1:30 p.m., according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A total of 60 firefighters from the Whiteford, Jarrettsville, Norrisville, Bel Air, Fallston, Baltimore County, Maryland Line, Hereford, Jacksonville, Delta-Cardiff, Shrewsbury, Airville, and York County, Pa. fire companies responded and brought the blaze under control in approximately two hours.
Four cattle died out of 22 present at the time, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, which is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. Damage to the structure was estimated at $125,000, and damages to its contents were estimated at an additional $125,000.
