Here’s a question that’s bothering me, how much has Harford County spent changing the seal to match Barry Glassman’s campaign colors? When Cecil County considered changing its seal it would have cost $32,000 and it is a much smaller county. Plus, I didn’t see Barry Glassman propose any legislation to change the seal.
Still on County Executive Barry Glassman’s splurging of county funds, a commenter noted that the owner of the building that Barry Glassman is expanding the county rent in is the Spenceola cabal of Hockaday and Streett, the same land owners that were also allegedly behind Glassman’s PAC giving money to Anthony Brown’s campaign. While the new digs for the County Economic Development agency will cost the county a lot more, I’m sure it has nothing to do with who the owners are. *WINK*WINK* <-That’s supposed to indicate sarcasm. The Frederick and Cecil County Central Committees are giving Governor-elect Larry Hogan fits because they aren’t giving him his chosen candidates to replace existing elected officials that he tapped to his cabinet. The most important being Delegate Justin Ready to replace Senator Joe Getty. Instead the Carroll County Central Committee nominated a Tea Partier who lost re-election to the county commission named Robin Frazier. He’s using the phrase “Transparency” which he’s right, the central committee did all their work in secret because they’re allowed to. Robin Frazier is best known for refusing to stop using “In Jesus’ Name” at the end of the opening prayer of the town commissioners meeting. Hogan has threatened no more Lincoln Day appearances from anyone in his cabinet in Carroll County unless they bow to his will and nominate Delegate Ready. The problem for Governor-elect Hogan will be that legally he has to accept the name given to him by the central committee, although there’s much debate about his. Governor O’Malley did his best to refuse to appoint a former drug dealer from Prince George’s County that had killed a 13-year-old. The outcome was that he convinced the central committee to send him new names, but they technically didn’t have to. The original nominee sued and the court said the central committee could submit a new name if they wanted to, so the question of how tied the Governor’s hands are is limited. The clock doesn’t technically start going until Larry Hogan is sworn in and the vacancy actually takes place. The moving vans have come to Government House in Annapolis. The key thing to watch here is where is the first family moving to? The First Lady is still a judge in Baltimore City and there is a residency requirement that judges have to live in the jurisdiction they reside over. Maryland’s Court of Appeals has been very lenient on this requirement and have said it only matters where the person intends to move to, so she had some dispensation while living in Annapolis, but if she doesn’t move back to the city, it could put into doubt about her ability to remain a judge in the city. She could always ask the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals to move her, and guess who named that judge to be the Chief Judge…

Glassman could turn out to be Craig lite.

Just because you can change the size and colors of the Seal doesn’t mean you should. County new seal is bigger and in many cases will mean extra pages on correspondence as the bottom information on each page was also moved up.Higher postage, mail and color letterhead.

Although my impressions of Mr. Glassman have grown less positive in the past few years, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as he assumes a new office.
I do think his change of the county seal was arrogant in nature, precipitous and potentially costly in nature. And, frankly, I find the change garish, unattractive, and unprofessional in appearance. It looks more like the campaign literature on which it was modeled and less like the formal ensign of a government.
If Slutsky can admit his error and reverse a decision, surely Mr. Glassman can do as well.

Jim,
1st wife couldn’t hack a husband in the first Iraq/Kuwait or Enduring Freedom, nothing to do with you, Harford County work or the present. A casualty of being young and not being able to see past the ordeal of war. My work ethic has never been in question no matter how much I you’d like ii to be. My work performance, attendance or quality is not something you would know about. Clearly, you have nothing to go by other than your preconceived notions about county employees. Sticks and stones hurt, even sand in the desert hurts, but what would you know about sacrifice and honor???
Miss Gulch says
Mostly Blue, don’t even dignify the comments madw by Jim regarding your personal life. Its a cheap shot and speaks to the nasty person that he myst be. I remember the time of this war and many families mage huge sacrifices including yours. Thank you.

Miss Gulch his narcissism makes it impossible for him to not reply and reveal even more personal information. It’s why his entire career has been being a civil servant, he could never make it on his own.

A narcissistic personality doesn’t usually serve others, only themselves! Which to me is more Jim than mostly. Mostly may be egotistical but a dumny like Jim wouldn’t know the difference. Most military give, not take!

Just think about all the jobs that were created by changing the Seal. Staggering isn’t it.

The last time I ordered a print job, the rep. informed me that each added color adds to the cost. It’s time for reducing costs. That’s what I heard before I voted from Glassman but actions speak loader than words once again!
