From the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company:
Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company received a call for a dog that fallen through the ice. The fire company’s Assistant Chief 8-1 was first on scene – on the Gunpowder River behind the 600 block of Towne Center Drive in Joppa.
At the scene, a civilian in a kayak paddled out to the dog, and was able to recovered the dog and bring it back to shore where it was reunited with its owner. A veterinarian was on scene with the owner and the dog appeared to be uninjured.
No oppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company resources were used in the recovery and the fire company wanted to remind pet owners to keep their pets on a leash and not allow them to walk on ice.
