From the office of U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski:
U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today met with Governor-Elect Larry Hogan at Harry Brown’s Restaurant in Annapolis. Senator Mikulski and Governor-Elect Hogan discussed working together to support jobs and opportunity for Maryland families.
“As the Dean of the Maryland Congressional Delegation, I’m ready to work with Governor-Elect Hogan to support jobs and opportunity for Maryland families,” Senator Mikulski said. “We want to be Team Maryland, from the State House to Washington. Once he is sworn in, I look forward to bringing together Maryland’s Congressional Delegation with the Governor to move forward with mutually agreed upon priorities for jobs and opportunity. I will continue to fight for the day-to-day needs of Marylanders, working as hard for them as they work for their families each day.”
Politico says
Harry Brown’s is a pretty swanky place…with a pretty Annapolis-type price tag.
Hopefully the Tax Payers didn’t pick up this tab!
For Maryland – the best way to create jobs, stop holding Government hostage and pads a damn budget.
Challenge to the Senator says
Since the Senator’s staff provided this press release, they will, no doubt, be monitoring the Dagger comments. So I challenge them to comment on whether this meal was paid with taxpayer money, and the cost, if any, to federal or state taxpayers. Also, who paid for the meals of anyone who accompanied the Senator. I issue the same challenge to the Governor-elect. Transparency matters!
PRESDIENT OWEMALLEY says
they get a per diem for being a federal employee. She got her stipend to pay for the meal. Since he is only the governor-elect he probably is using campaign funds to pay for the meal. He gets police protection, at our expense, and will get all the perks when he is sworn in. Can’t wait for Former Governor OWEMALLEY to be President. He is going to show the nation, what a liberal spender he is. Can’t do any worse the OWEBAMA. I’m sure the minority party, in the senate, her party, would love that.
Practical Guy says
I like the Dagger. But please don’t be deluded into thinking that everybody follows our crap. BTW, try to use the same “handle” so people can respond according to your sum of comments. Regards to all. Btw, btw, even if it’s optics, I think it’s good that Gov-Elect is meeting with the players, like them or not. It’s all good for MD.

Hands up. Don't eat says
I’m sure the taxpayer picked up the tab. Don’t think she is going to eat at a fancy place and pay her own money. I’m sure they talked about how the man keeps the brother down and how the police shot that unarmed, innocent, kid. Who just happened to rob a store. She lost my confidence when she came out against the police. I wouldn’t shake her hand and I’m a veteran. It’s a national tragedy when honest cops have to be scape goats for criminals. I’m sure if she had a son, he’d look nothing like Mikey.
veteran says
She has done a lot for veterans and that should be commended, but she showed her true liberal colors when she accused the police of killing and unarmed teenager. BUT what she doesn’t say is that the “teen” attacked the police officer and used his height and weight to bully. The unarmed teen was attacking the police. What was the officer supposed to do….send the kid to detention. If you are going to make statements about a tragedy….It was a tragedy on both sides. The cop never went looking for trouble and the Dean of the Maryland Delegation lost a lot of street creds when she showed her hand and defended the “unarmed” teen. Does she want to support the shop owner who was strong armed out of his merchandise? Hope they talked about ways to get Maryland back to work and how to strengthen the economy. We need more jobs and better benefits for the middle class. Less taxes and more services. I’m sure they both traveled with a police protection detail.
RTFU says
I am going to take issue with your comment, “She has done alot for veterans”. She has not, and neither has Congress.
One of the largest VA Regional Offices is in Baltimore – in HER State – and it is the most backed up with claims than any other office in the country. The Baltimore Regional Office also has the highest percentage of returns by Veterans for errors in the claim.
The Baltimore Regional Office is a complete and utter disaster, so perhaps she should be spending some time down at 31 Hopkins Plaza rather than at Harry Brown’s in Annapolis.
Also, related to the per-diem comment earlier, they only get “per diem” if they are considered to be travelling for official business – Annapolis to DC would not qualify for per diem under the Joint Travel Federal Regulation. Congressmen / women and Senators do get an annual stipend for that amount, but shame she is using it for lunch with a future Governer over a group of constituents.
Blue line says
How about jobs for police. Oh that’s right, you think its a tradegy to be police. More free handouts for criminals.
Titles mean nuthin says
The only reason you are willing to work with him is the fact HE WoN. I’m sure you would have liked the other guy and more Obamacare. You wouldn’t be crossing the street to break bread if he didn’t wun. Love how people are showing their bipartisanship. Hope you are that crow with seasoning. Dean of the delegation…..yeah ok
titles mean nuthin says
should have said ate that crow……yum
F.L. says
She’s still living and “serving?” Da.! At 70 (+) shouldn’t she be retired 3-4-5 times over?Bab’s not done mooching off “the people.” Sad.
Practical Guy says
I can’t stand her political leaning, but when asked, her office assisted me on a VA matter. About age, how old was the last great defender of the American Dream, President Reagan? Glad he didn’t retire! ….but I still like term limits.
F.L. says
She helped because there was a “cut for herself” in it. Retirement planning some call it.
