Today, Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) supported H.R. 240, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which will improve border security, provide for stricter oversight and increase transparency within the DHS. It will also address and defund President Obama’s executive action on immigration, which effectively granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.
“The President’s unilateral actions on immigration have completely undermined our legal immigration system in the United States. While I agree that our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed, granting blanket amnesty will only encourage those outside the U.S. to come here illegally,” said Dr. Harris. “The bill we passed today will fund important functions of the Department of Homeland Security, like enhanced border security and anti-terrorist measures, while putting the interests of those who are entering this country through the legal immigration system ahead of those who are here illegally.”
The bill increases funding to the Department of Homeland Security to bolster border security, anti-terrorist efforts, and immigration and customs enforcement. It also requires that DHS submit comprehensive spending plans to Congress, which to increase oversight and transparency of how taxpayer dollars are being spent.
“I agree that immigration is an important issue that we need to address, but the President’s plan of granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants is not the answer,” added Dr. Harris.
The legislation passed the House 236 to 191.
Mr./Dr Anesthesiologist/Immigrant family Harris himself already has his own benefits of life in the US (including his government-paid health care policy–finally and not a minute too soon!) so be sure no one else has the opportunity to cut in on what’s his!.
The people I know who are the most against illegal immigration are naturalized citizens. They waited years for a chance to come here, had to pay large sums of money, have a job lined up, and then win the lottery to get a green card, plus then go through the process of naturalization, but now they’re seeing that people who cross illegally are given a free pass instead of the legally-required deportation and banfrom entry for 10 years.
Are your facts accurate Mr. Moderate as to where Dr. Harris purchases his health insurance? The last I heard he had been maintaining his private industry policy. As far as immigration, my father arrived in the United States the same way as Mr. Harris’ parents, legally.

The day he was sworn in . Andy has never personally paid for a health insurance policy in his life.

Andy is against health care coverage for Active duty military? Do you have some proof of this Money tree?
Not what I said and not what I meant really. Andy was active duty military as everyone knows so of course received health care as provided by his employee – the navy. Don’t really understand the not so subtle slam by “h” as it’s a sacrifice to be in the military and carries risk. Some may not like Harris’s politics but his personal history is pretty exemplary so the idea of knocking him because he had a question about his health coverage when he’s the breadwinner for a large family is pretty silly and has zilch to do with Obamacare. Some people earn it; others just want it given to them – Harris earned it.
So then why is Andy against it now?
Gosh hard to imagine why anyone would be against Obamacare because after all it’s turning out so great.

Is this the same Keith Olbermann that claimed for years to have a degree from Cornell only to be called out by actual Ivy League Cornell graduates? Olbermann actually got a degree from the Old MacDonald Conell , an affiliated state college at Cornell, the college of Agriculture and life sciences.
My understanding is that Harris’ family came to the US under refugee status from Communist governments (the bad guys during the Cold War)
in eastern Europe, and thus by-passed normal immigration procedures.
