A Harford County Sheriff’s Office cruiser was involved in a crash later Friday night in Hickory police said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 543 and Route 1 in Hickory during the 11 p.m. hour; the exact time of the accident was not immediately clear, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Michael Crabbs. According to a Northern Precinct report, an unknown vehicle ran a red light at the intersection, causing another car to swerve and strike the Sheriff’s Office cruiser head-on.
A sergeant driving the Sheriff’s Office vehicle sustained minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene, Crabbs said. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The crash came two days after a Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company ambulance was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 24 and West Ring Factory Road.

Glad everyone is ok. But whatever happen to Deer Creek? Also, what happened to all the Majors that were let go? I see Meckley is hanging out in Bel Air.

I am a regular visitor to The Dagger and am very confused by this reference to Deer Creek here in the comments. Can anyone elaborate? Did something happen on Deer Creek this past year that has not been reported? Only thing I know about Deer Creek is that it is a nice place to paddle, swim, or go fishing.

Don’t feel left out, there is 1 person on here that keeps referring to “Deer Creek” and no one has a clue what they are talking about.
Duncan Donuts Fan says
I knew the lady behind the counter looked familiar She needs to work on her customer service. She told me what I wanted to eat. I’m sure she thought she was right and dare I say something. The uniform looked different. She didn’t have her minions following her every word. So, on a serious note, didn’t the dagger say more information about Deer Creek? I’m sure the DSU President is loving this new sheriff. I’m sure he thinks the union made the right choice in backing Bane. So far, Gahler is making good moves and seems to be working with the agency. Just had an idea….maybe Sable 1 can deliver donuts and make money for the agency. Still think the helicopter is costing way to much then all the drug money in Hazzard County. One last thing, do I call Presbury, Major. How about all the other majors that got the boot? Anyone need a good lawyer…where oh where are you skippy?
Hank says
You people need to stop living in the past. Bane is out along with all his majors and Gahler is in with some new blood. Who cares what the old majors are doing?
YOU People says
It’s not called living in the past……It’s called KARMA. What goes around comes around. I’m sure you are one who lives in the past two and ever heard of paybacks. There was mention of Deer Creek and then nothing was ever mentioned. Also, I like the way the election turned out. The county got a new sheriff that wasn’t living in the past and hopefully he will not promote people who are yes men and women. The sheriff’s office is not a place for majors who think they can act/talk to anyone without consequences. Im sure Forward thought he could get away with it. I’m sure timmy thinks he can get away with treating people without respect. So I don’t live in the past. There is too much life left to care about BANEWHO. BTW I sure hope presbury loves retirement. How that respect going now?
Ralph says
Who is the timmy you are referring too?
It has now been two months since Sheriff Gahler was elected. That time has given him and his team sufficient time to evaluate most of the activity and units within the HCSO. I am ready to learn more about the necessary changes that will occur to place more boots on the ground for better policing of our community. Hopefully those changes are soon.
Hank says
Gahler’s barely been in office a month and from what I’ve heard Bane wasn’t particularly cooperative with him during the transition (not to mention most of of his command staff seemingly disappeared for most of November.)
It takes time to properly evaluate what’s going on (especially given the little fiefdoms that certain people built for themselves) and come up with a plan to fix things. I’d much rather he takes an extra month or two to do it right, then make changes haphazardly so we have as big of a (or bigger) mess then Bane left.
Ralph says
We certainly don’t need a bigger mess than Bane left. With regard to Bane and his Command Staff not being cooperative as most of them disappeared after the election throughout the month on November, I think that would have “cleared the deck” for Sheriff elect Gahler and his transition team to move ahead with their evaluation and assessment of HCSO units during the month of November.
For the record I am not unhappy with Sheriff Gahler at this point. However, he published several position papers prior to the election with regard to how he would approach policing in Harford County. I think it is fair to have an expectation that he already knew many of the changes that would be necessary to improve day to day policing operations even before he was elected. I suppose I am just anxious to see those ideas placed in effect.
? says
So you are saying the whole platform Gahler ran on was BS and that he actually had no clue what he was doing?
Well now isn’t that information we could have used prior to the election.
Ralph says
In no way am I saying that it was BS. Those are your words not mine. What I’m saying is…. it is my opinion that he already knows most of the changes necessary and I am eagerly waiting his implementation of those changes. His initial action to dismiss all of the Majors was a great start and I’m anxious for him to move on with additional changes.
