From the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County:
As the holidays draw near, it’s easy to forget that December is the last opportunity for individuals and businesses to make an annual contribution to their charity of choice that will be deductible come tax season.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County are raising awareness and raising the incentives for making a gift this holiday season. As a part of their Give the Gift of a Great Future Campaign, any donation that is $2500 dollars or more qualifies to receive tax credits.
What are DHCD Community Investment Tax Credits? If an individual (who is a resident of Maryland) or a company (who conducts business in Maryland) gives Boys & Girls Clubs a donation of $2500 or more, that donor can earn tax credits equal to 50% of the value of the contribution. For example, if a business or individual donates $5,000 to the Clubs, they can make a $5,000 dollar tax deduction and receive an additional $2,500 in tax credits. That’s $2500 less you will have to pay in Maryland State taxes. So what is the end cost of making a $5,000 contribution to Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County? After State and Federal deductions, only about $700 dollars!
While Club members pay only $20 dollars a year, it costs approximately $500 dollars to put each of the Clubs’ nearly 4,000 youth on a path to a Great Future. What’s on that path to success? Caring adult relationships, daily hot meals, homework help, and a bounty of educational programs in STEM, character development, career training, and healthy lifestyles.
Taking advantage of these Tax Credits is simple. Fill out this two-page form (CITC_Certification_of_Contribution_Form) and submit it with your donation of $2500 or more to Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County at PO Box 1106 Aberdeen, MD 21001. Or visit
http://www.bgcharfordco.org/2014/12/tax-credits/ All donations must be made by December 31st, 2014.
