Mr. Moderate says
Are we having swearing-in ceremonies in Harford County this year–or is this part of several Coronations County Government seems to be holding for itself.?
Who is paying for all this? Out of what budget?
mostly blue says
Harford County law states when the Executive office holder takes over, at high noon on December 1st is when the new executive office gains the privilege and office of county executive. I am sure that dedicated funds from the county budget had already been allocated in last year’s budget. It truly won’t be as expensive as you would think, as pump and circumstance are no more that a dog and pony show at HCC. There isn’t a parade or secret service needed as it is just a county office. The Sheriff is having his own separate ceremony at John Carroll which seems kind of odd but to each office holder its own stage.

Wait until you guys hear about the friends and family plan underway at the Glassman administration that’s going to make Craig look like a school boy. This new CE is actually Bonifarce’s puppet…How many of these new fresh faces at some agencies are either related to each other or six degrees separated from the past two CE’s.

Kinda ironic all elected officials are being sworn in at a college except the sheriff who opted for a high school. 🙂
Really says
And what makes that “ironic”?
W.T.F.? says
Why a private H.S. Rather than a public H.S.?
Barbara says
Seating capacity?
Kharn says
Or it is easier for the Sheriff’s Department to cut a check to John Carroll than negotiate with HCPS?
D J Frucks says
W.T.F
wtf are you so stupid and keep asking moronic questions??? John Carroll is closed tomorrow, I guess and public schools are open. Local law says change of officials must happen on the 1st of December after a general election.
Stop being a moron…
34Voter says
DJ,
Public schools can be used after hours even if they are open that day. This is done all the time for public forums and community meetings. Asking why it’s not taking place at a public school where the ceremony is being held is not a moronic question, but it does make one curious why a separate ceremony is needed.
In the Know says
Bane started having the sheriffs swearing in as a separate event back in 2006. My guess is Gahler was not invited to be part of the CE event because they are now accustom to not having the sheriff there.

Gonna go to work tomorrow and meet the new director, hopefully won’t be as stupid and it has been made out to be by some. Hear the appointment was strictly political and doesn’t have a clue about the job and was asked to turn it down before people start talking about the emperor having no clothes. I think Glassman and Boniface will have some to add a competent deputy to teach the job or the county will be in a mess of trouble in 3 to 6 months as the director will actually have to be hands on…
D J Frucks says
Can’t be done after hours and county law says it must be done at high noon as stated in the county charter, you know that little document that gives Harford County the right to govern under home rule.
D J Frucks says
The County Executive shall serve for a term beginning at 12:00 noon on the first Monday in December next following his election and ending at 12:00 noon on the first Monday in December in the fourth year thereafter. No person shall be eligible to succeed himself in the office of County Executive if he has served in such office for two (2) consecutive four-year terms.

34voter,
I guess you must be one of those uniformed voters or perhaps not a voter but a complainer.
? says
If it must be done at noon why are they doing it at 6PM?
rocco says
Executive at 12 noon. Learn to read ?
? says
The discussion is about why Gahler is at John Carrol at 6 PM ya big dummy.
Learn to read rocco.
Insider says
There is no constitutional requirement for the Sheriff to take office at a specific time of day as there is the County Executive.
A separate ceremony allows more people to attend since the only person being sworn in is the Sheriff. If the Sheriff shared the ceremony time with several others it would limit the number of tickets each would be provided.
Regardless of where and when the swearing in takes place both assume office today, December 1, 2014.

duh, because the county code says so, at least for the CE. You’re so far out that you confused half the posters here ? Are you a tea bagger? You should apply to assist council person Perrone between the 2 of you hazard county will be in fine hands. You made wtf look like a Mensa candidate.

I wonder how long it will take Mr. Glassman to address the problems in Riverside, Abingdon and Edgewood with no fire protection in those areas. The Abingdon Fire Company seems to only have manpower for house burn training and Santa runs. Over the last few weeks the fire company needed other companies coming into there area to fight fires for them. The company is having problems with the members that are in charge of the company. Somebody from the county should take a look at the response times, man power and no shows for the last several months. The citizens in those areas pay taxes and deserve better. It should make Mr. Glassman sick to look at the fire Abingdon had the other night. Joppa arrived with three pieces of equipment along with the Proving ground and one or two peices from Abingdon showed up after the fire was out. Is it going to take more children to get killed on someones watch before the county steps in for this company that isn’t up to standards?????
D J Frucks says
? you should change your name to L for guess what? Your response was idiotic as previous post was self explanatory…
I posted why the CE must be at 12 and your reply asked about Sheriff indirectly, which isn’t quite following the previous posts so I think 34voter can’t read either. I sent you a link regarding CE and you countered with Sheriff which was excluded. Learning to read means one must reason it as well and I guess you can’t do either very well…

UR an idiot, who can’t understand your own posts. That’s sad.
D J Frucks says
UR an idiot because you can’t understand the law… case closed.

Wow you really showed me.
Not. 🙂
Another product of HCPS education.
mostly blue says
What part of the county code don’t you get? CE must be sworn at 12 noon. Sheriff can pick his own party and time. why don’t you stop before you embarrass yourself? DJ was talking about the CE as the article wasn’t just about the Sheriff! wtf!!!
? says
The discussion was Gahlers swearing in and not the CE. DJ said it had to take place at “high noon” and that’s why it was at John Carrol.
Can you read?
