From Band Together:
Come Join the Fun on Saturday, December 13 at MusicLand in Bel Air from 10a.m. until 4:00 pm
Band Together and MusicLand are partnering to host a fundraising and instrument donation event at MusicLand located on 200 Gateway Drive, near the post office in Bel Air. There will be live music performed throughout the day, food, a silent auction and lots of fun.
Visitors are asked to bring an unwanted musical band or string instrument. Monetary donations are also accepted. Since Band Together is a tax exempt 501(c)3 public charity, individuals will receive a 2013 tax deduction.
Educational research has shown that music education, specifically instructional music education, can have a direct and beneficial effect on a child’s academic achievement in school. Unfortunately, there are many students in Harford County who are unable to participate in instrumental music due to financial need.
Band Together is an organization of active and retired music educators, as well as concerned community members who volunteer their time for one mission: to provide musical instruments to Harford County Public School students in need. During the 2012-2013 school year, Band Together provided instruments to over 300 Harford County Public School students whose parents could not afford to rent or buy instruments. These instruments remain the property of Band Together and are re-loaned numerous times.
In the event of inclement weather, the cancellation policy of the Harford County Public Schools will be followed. If weekend activities are canceled, this event will be postponed until December 20, 2014.
Band Together is not part of the Harford County Public Schools, but a separate corporate non-profit organization that helps needy students. For more information on this fun event, please contact Dale Neeper at 410-569-2531.
Sam says
MusicLand owners/employees are arrogant and disrespectful of customers. Can’t believe they are still in business. Music & Arts has my family’s business now.
