From the Harford County Public Library:
Harford County Public Library presented trophies to Darlington Elementary, Fallston Middle, and Patterson Mill High schools for their achievement of having the highest percentage of Summer Reading Program completers.
Media Specialist Lisa Brown from Darlington Elementary School was on hand to receive the trophy at the September Library Board of Trustees meeting along with Principal Joseph Mascari and Media Specialist Theresa Plumer from Fallston Middle School as well as High School Principal Sean Abel, Ed.D. and High School Media Specialist Tracey Cramer from Patterson Mill High. Supervisor of Library Services at Harford County Public Schools, Patricia O’Donnell, was recognized and thanked for her continual encouragement to teachers and students.
The Summer Reading Program 2014 “Extraordinary Achievement Award” was presented to John Archer School for a 92.9% completion rate! Assistant Principal Randy Geyer, Media Specialist Steph Sauter, and Director of Camp I Can Keelin Harrison were recognized and thanked for their encouragement and support to their students.
County-wide 17,336 children and teens participated in the 2014 Summer Reading Program Fizz, Boom, Read! This represents a 7.76% increase versus 2013. By summer’s end 8,238 students had completed the program and over 100,000 books had been read.
Special thanks and recognition was given to Ms. Diane Moore from HAR-CO Credit Union, a sponsor of the Summer Reading Program for 12 years. Other sponsors of the 2014 Summer Reading Program included Jones Junction, Walmart, Susquehanna Bank, Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan Association, Aberdeen Rotary Club, Darlington Friends of HCPL, Berardino Family Trust, Advanced Eye Care, The Aegis, APG Federal Credit Union, Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, Huether-McClelland Foundation, Wegman’s and the Aberdeen IronBirds.
