From MedStar Health:
MedStar Health has finalized plans with Frauenshuh Health Care Real Estate Solutions to build a 107,000 sq. ft. ambulatory care center, the centerpiece of the 16-acre MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus. Construction is scheduled to begin in early October by a commercial contractor, with the center scheduled to open in March 2016. The site is near the intersection of Plumtree Road and Route 924 in Bel Air. They have used the help of a Construction Surety Lawyer throughout the process.
Bob Gilbert, president of MedStar Ambulatory Services says, “MedStar Health is committed to providing individuals and families with convenient, compassionate, coordinated healthcare services close to where they live and work. We are extending our commitment to Harford County and nearby residents with the building of this campus and bringing the best of MedStar Health to the Bel Air community.”
Frauenshuh, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., is a national developer and owner of ambulatory care facilities and medical office buildings. The firm has completed projects in 38 states totaling more than $3 billion and has been in business for 34 years. HealthCare REIT, with whom Frauenshuh has had a long-standing partnership, will provide the financing for the MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus project. DPR Construction, with an office in Columbia, Md., is general contractor. The facilities will have state of the art equipment and technology including a leveling caster in every room.
In addition to the orthopaedic, women’s, cancer, and sports medicine specialists who have served Harford County for many years, MedStar Health recently opened a MedStar PromptCare urgent care center in Harford County at Belcamp and two primary care physician offices in Forest Hill and Aberdeen. Additional primary and specialty medical care will be provided by expert physicians and at MedStar Health hospitals, including MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. In addition, therapists and athletic trainers from MedStar National Rehabilitation Network will continue to provide rehabilitation and sports medicine services to the community from the Bel Air campus.
Sean Curtin, MD, a sports medicine specialist, says, “As a resident of Harford County and a physician who has built my practice here, I’m excited about having this convenient healthcare option for my neighbors, my patients, and my student athletes. I look forward for the providers who will practice here. It will be a great benefit for our patients and their families being able to confer with other specialists in the same location.”
The ambulatory care center will enable MedStar to consolidate its various Bel Air locations under one roof, making it more convenient for patients and creating space for new specialists to locate in the community. Services planned for the ambulatory care center include:
· Expanded cancer services, including radiation therapy
· Cardiology, through the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute
· Medical imaging and laboratory
· Orthopaedics
· Outpatient surgery
· Primary and preventive care
· Rehabilitation (physical therapy)
· Sports medicine
· Urgent care, with MedStar PromptCare offering walk-in service and extended hours
· Women’s health
· Health education programs

where’s the outrage over this 16 acre medical campus in the same area as the proposed Wal-Mart.

How about a good ol’ family physician who isn’t owned and dictated to by a mega conglomerate corporation acting like they really care about a person’s well being versus the least expensive method of treatment. And that’s if you’re lucky enough to even see a physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner versus an actual physician.

K, Sorry, Didn’t you hear? We are now under the guidelines of the Affordable Care Act. Individual practices are no longer viable with the amount of paperwork that is required under these regulations. Isn’t government regulation grand?

Oh yeah Steve, I’ve heard loud and clear about the ACA. As a matter of fact, I’m living the medical dream just like the rest of us little worker ants. Paying MUCH higher premiums with a MUCH higher deductible with MUCH less coverage. But my goodness, at least I’m able to get free birth control pills! I wonder if our elected employees will decide to give us free liquid chlorine to battle all the righteous virus’ they’ve allowed to overwhelm our once sovereign nation?
