From Norm Gifford:
Dear Voters of Maryland’s 7th Legislative District,
My name is Norm Gifford. Pete Definbaugh and I are running for two of the three seats in the Maryland House of Delegates representing your district
It will be our primary goal in Annapolis to make sure your hard-earned money you send to Annapolis in the form of state taxes returns back to you and our district, whether it’s in the form of school improvements, improved infrastructure or new protective equipment for our law enforcement officers and fire personnel. With our current delegation in Annapolis, we have received very little of our tax dollars due to the incumbents being so disconnected with their constituents as well as leadership in Annapolis on both sides of the aisle. Instead our share is going to jurisdictions like Cecil County, Baltimore City, even Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties!
Over the past 12 years, Delegates Pat McDonough and Rick Impallaria have earned $522,000, not including their pensions and health care, each and they have generated nothing except constant controversy. They proudly claim every year that they vote against the budget because it’s proposed by a Governor not of their political party. McDonough, Impallaria and Kathy Szeliga vote No to millions of dollars for education. McDonough, Impallaria and Szeliga vote No to improved roads and infrastructure. McDonough, Impallaria and Szeliga vote No to firefighters and police officers. McDonough, Impallaria and Szeliga vote No to seniors and small businesses. We do not deserve the status quo. We deserve better and that is why I ask that you vote No to McDonough, Impallaria and Szeliga and vote Yes to Pete Definbaugh and me. We will work across party lines to tirelessly to improve your quality of life in District 7.
Thank You,
Norm Gifford
Candidate
Maryland House of Delegates, District 7
Sorry oh tax and spender says
Lies. Lies. Damn lies.
Mr. Moderate says
For the record and to help voters of Maryland’s 7th Legislative District a proper perspective, please identify legislative initiatives Delegates McDonough, Impallaria and Szeliga have supported.
Cdev says
Szeliga seems to at least look into issues her constiuents bring to her. Impallaria is all about him and McDonough only seems to care about Illegal aliens.
that is what big spenders do says
Moderate,
There is nothing moderate about judging folks on the amount of legislation they pass. That is what big government spenders do. I like folks that say no more than they say yes.
Fed up in Harford says
Well, I’m certainly not going to be voting for Roid Rage Impy or his rug-wearing, Super-Citizen buddy Pat. I’ll write in Dave Seman.
But we vote Republicans into office in this loopy liberal state FOR THEM TO VOTE NO.
They should ALL vote against a budget that funds Planned Parenthood and millions in crap economic bribe loans.
Sorry dems. Go peddle “poor me” elsewhere. I heard California is hiring.
Pavel314 says
I will be voting for whomever is running against McDonough, Impallaria, and Szeliga . Their hypocritical power grab through HB 1513 shows they are unworthy for public office. For the first time in my many years in Maryland I may find myself voting for a Democrat.
K says
Well said Pavel314! That’s how great a job the three imps of HB 1513 fame have done. Not ONE of them should be reelected. But, as we all know all the Republican groupies will maintain the status quo instead of living up to their battle cry of, “We want to affect change.” It’s all pretty icky…..

I would like to know what those “no” votes were for. Could it be possible that they voted “no” for several items that may have done some good; but were attached to a bunch of extras that would have been bad in the long run? Maybe money for equipment and personnel and schools included equal spending on something frivolous…maybe not.
We have to start looking beyond the face value of something that looks good on the outside. We can no longer use Nancy Pelosi as an example of how our government should be run~~voting something into law before we can see what’s in it. This used to be a government of, by, and for the people! And, damn it, I want to see it return to that! We can’t afford a government of, by, and for the mighty dollar and the self serving politicians. I want someone who can make the right choices based on the future and not how it will look on paper come election time.
well... says
That’s how they play the game… float a bill that bans eating orphans and bury a bit 10 pages back that funds some stupid BS idea and when anyone votes against it the ads in the next election cycle will rant about how Joe Blow voted to eat orphans. Politicians suck. Career Politicians swallow.
Hank says
Don’t post your partial information and half truths in Harford County. Up here, over half of us still have a brain. I know that in order for the liberal mindset to make sense, you must ignore about half of the truth, but don’t expect us to sink to your level.
Political bs says
My thoughts exactly.
Freestate? says
Shouldn’t your “primary goal” be to keep my hard earned money mine. We don’t need another politician who automatically thinks their job is to take our money and then tell us how hard they will work for us to be fortunate enough to have it spent in our community as they see fit.
that is what big spenders do says
You have to love the dems that slither in here saying all they want is change. And Geez! Didn’t the country vote for Hope and Change?
The only change the dems want is the remaining change in your pocket.

TP nonsense is coming to an end at least in most states where industry depends on highly skilled labor which of course depends on having a properly funded schools system. TP and C4L believe that tax cuts and breaks for the rich are a better way of stimulating economic growth. If that was the case, our economy should be doing great as the rich actually pay less in taxes now than they did in the 80’s, 70’s and 60’s. Where is the capital investment in this country? Mostly coming from other countries. American companies are too greedy and driven by the next quarterly statement to make sound investments that create jobs and stimulate economic growth. Middle and small businesses are actually now a drag as they pay less and less in corporate and sole proprietorship taxes than they have in years. It is common practice for small and sole owner entities to report the very least in FICA and of course they will later complain because they will get meager Social Security checks, but they live for the now, so it doesn’t matter to make investments for their own personal future. I have seen many of these clients in my private practice. When you don’t properly fund your economic future, you can’t expect the government to bail you out. We already have too much dead wood in our economy and don’t need tea bagging tax cheats with money crying poor as well…
that is it.. the government invests says
What a complete crock of crap. On the other hand.. let’s consider you are correct.
Yep, sure… greedy ole corporations and small businesses just don’t give enough to the well-oiled and perfectly run government machine. If we just dug deeper and fully funded all the government’s requests, we would have happier and brighter people for the businesses to hire… those brighter people will think like the government and want to give the government more… and more. Oh hell, let’s let the government run everything.
There. I feel better. Uncle Sugar knows best. Let’s just hand him our checks and see how much he gives us back. We just do not need the strain and hassle of managing our own moneyl That’s it. Oh bless the government. It invests while businesses plunder.

The great American railroad system, waterways, and highway system would never be built in today’s political climate. America just doesn’t think BIG anymore. Everyone is in it for their own pocket and dammed be the national deficit. I can see us becoming the next big fat PIG to get told to cut back or else the creditors won’t lend us money..
