From Harford County government:
Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation employee Donald Custer has been named the Harford County Employee of the Month for September 2014. Custer is a custodian with Parks and Recreation.
Custer has been recognized for the award for his kindness and going above and beyond the call of duty to help others. On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, a homeless man arrived at a Parks and Recreation Center around 7pm. Once Custer realized the man did not have a place to go, he called his wife and they began to call area churches to find him a place to stay. Two hours later, the homeless man was placed in a taxi and sent to a church in Aberdeen. Custer also paid for the cab service out of his own pocket. He promised the man he would not let him sleep on a park bench and found him a safe place to sleep.
“Don should be recognized as going above and beyond representing Harford County and the Department of Parks and Recreation by his act of kindness in handling the situation,” said Michael Stritzinger, Supervisor with Parks and Recreation.
Stritzinger nominated Donald Custer for the award.
I don’t know the gentleman, but kudos to him for going above the job duties. County employees and citizens recognize work above one’s duties, however the tea bagging party and the C4L crowd would say your job isn’t needed or your are paid too much. How dare you do more than needed for these ingrates! You might actually give county government a good reputation? I doubt that even Mother Teresa would have gotten any recognition in hazard county…
Giverment workers telling other giverment workers they are doing a great job spending tax payers dollars and double dipping blue who never did a full 8 hours work in a day wants more.
