From the Aberdeen Proving Ground-Chesapeake Science and Security Corridor Regional Base Realignment and Closure Office:
You are invited to a public workshop regarding land use planning around Aberdeen Proving Ground.
The Chesapeake Science and Security Corridor (CSSC), in cooperation with the Counties of Harford, Cecil, and Kent, Cities of Aberdeen and Havre de Grace, and agencies and organizations in the region, is preparing a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to address compatibility planning with Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). The JLUS will explore impacts of community development on APG and vice versa, and will make recommendations to promote land use compatibility and collaboration. The goal of the JLUS is to reduce current and potential compatibility issues between APG and surrounding jurisdictions while accommodating new growth and economic development, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of APG.
The JLUS will assess 24 compatibility factors, identify existing or potential issues, and develop strategies toaddress the issues. The compatibility factors include, but are not limited to:
• Coordination / Communication
• Land Use
• Noise
• Safety Zones
• Light and Glare
• Vertical Obstructions
• Roadway Capacity
• Air Quality
In order to develop a plan that is responsive to local needs, input from the community is essential.
The public is encouraged to join us at this workshop, learn more about this planning study, and provide input on the issues to be addressed. This workshop will be provided in three locations for your convenience:

Harford Forever says
They really need to integrate the planning, and do it fast. The next BRAC is going minimize, if not close, APG, and send everyone to Huntsville, AL.
the professor says
APG and Edgewood Arsenal have more space and proximity to D.C make it unlikely that it will close or be downsized In fact, there are plans in place to make it an even more critical component of high tech resource for the Army. It is though critical that the county and state do everything they can to make sure the Army feels wanted here. For those that think it doesn’t matter how the Army spends its money, you just wait if APG is closed. A good 25% of the local economy depends on economic activity generated there (TP’s would tell you that the govt doesn’t generate economic activity) but the resources spent here can easily be spent someplace else. Our county’s TP need to advocate for higher military spending??? wouldn’t that be something!
Kevin D. G. says
Proximity to DC doesn’t make sense why they would, or would not do something.
Personal opinion on a subject you know nothing about.
Or, hit “reply” and type up some more gigantic wall of worthless text. Please, “tell me how it is.”
Yawn till the cows come home says
Proffy,
What is it with you? You try to make a point and somehow your inner pathology says the same two things: how someone “feels” about something is most important and when anything is wrong it’s the “TP” fault.
Get this: APG is Homeland Security oriented now. The basic military is being reduced by administration fiat. Simple. Done. Over. And sure, the government is spending money there. Don’t you read your lefty releases? D-James is spending almost a quarter million per job for 1980’s type 3D printing.
Also, here is a constant lesson in economics: government drains wealth from taxpayers to provide necessary services – government is important but we are running a 17 trillion dollar debt because government cannot replace the economy.
Freakin moron.
Al J Thong says
Does Aberdeen still have a Mayor?
Arturro Nasney says
Al; The city used to have an effective mayor, but then the council yielded all of its power to a city manager. The council now calls itself the “legislative branch”. The council is toothless and led by a progressive. BRAC came and went!
Al J Thong says
Arturro,
They now have open session once a month instead of once a week; they lengthened their terms and their pay and after all that they gave the power and the direction to the city manager. Now We are now finding out that the city bought the mayor a new car and has a city credit card with questionable charges on it.
Totally inept council that has screwed the pooch on BRAC.
Needs to know says
So basically this is about building more multiple story office buildings that chill out vacant for years after construction? Hell, Aberdump has plenty of them already.
F.L. says
They guessed correctly with BRAC. Make sure OWE’Malley is included …… or his side kick Brown. $$$ to burn.
