From Del. Mary-Dulany James:
Dear Friend,
On August 11 I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s 25th multi-purpose Youth Development Park. The aptly named Vi Ripken Field at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Park marked the halfway point in goal to create 50 Youth Development Parks throughout the nation, and will be maintained by the Boys & Girls Club of Harford County.
Bill Ripken astutely remarked that “these fields in particular, are to provide kids with a place where they can feel safe, confident and grow and learn, it’s not about giving kids a chance to play in the big leagues; it’s about giving kids a chance.”
