Will the walmart,,evamar protesters be there with Gina to fight this run away county development? These roads were designed 200 years ago for horse and buggies this must stop! Someone is going to get killed!
Or maybe not as this isn’t happening in their back yard…. wink wink….
Stupidityiscontagious...leave says
Yea because a Panda Express is the same as a Wal-mart….At least make a reasonable analogy.
BillH says
Walmart is moving, nothing new like a panda express will be. See it’s just this sort of unbridled growth that is making everyone run into each other on the roads made for horses. People are dieing Gina where are you!!!!!

More jobs in the county, what could possibly be wrong with that? The NMBY crowd in Bel Air could care less what happens in Abingdon! What hypocrites! I support the Walmart in Bel Air so a well know sporting goods store can move to the Abingdon Walmart spot and Target won’t go out of business. Bring more jobs to the county, business paying taxes in the county and development in the development envelope can occur as it was designed to be. The Bel Air crowd didn’t want a possible residential complex, that’s why the pushed for a commercial designation and now they don’t want either one. Perhaps they can put their money together and buy the lot and leave it for the squirrels. See how well they like that return on investment!!

The Walmart store is being built, now that the State Highway Administration encouraged that discount chain to fulfill its obligations to the local community by paying for the road improvements necessary for that location to be viable. It is refreshing to see Walmart supporters getting behind this reality. It would be great to see the Eva Mar supporters do the same for 543 and 22.
As for Bass Pro Shops moving into the area, keeping wishing. The only evidence of that has come from the rumor mill. I’ve even contacted the chain itself about its intention to move to the area. All they can confirm is that it is that marketing department is unaware of it, which doesn’t mean that it won’t or couldn’t happen in several years, just that it won’t be happening anytime soon.

Off track here, but Walmart hasn’t even submitted a revised plan, as far as I know, so I’m not sure how you can proclaim it’s getting built (thought it probably is anyway).
And there is no way that any plan they come up with is going to be “viable” for the community, no matter what rubber stamp is applied to it.
Keith Gabel says
My apologies. You are correct. I am assuming that Walmart is going to ahead with its building plan regardless of any minor inconvenience caused by the SHA. In my imagination, I cannot see it not getting what it wants, when it wants it.
As for viability, yes, you are also correct on that one. I should have stated something along the lines of the traffic abatement will “better than nothing”.
I stand corrected.
