From The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region:
The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) purchased a brand-new van thanks to over $32,000 raised through the 2nd Annual “Fund the Need” campaign at the 10th Annual After d’Arc gala. The new van will help transport individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work, scheduled programs, and a variety of community activities, as well as to and from home.
“Our new van is a direct result of the kindness of our donors,” says Julie Chmura, Director of Development at The Arc NCR. “We are so grateful to the generosity of our community -you are making a difference in our every day transportation needs!”
Each year, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region identifies a significant need in the organization and efforts are made to raise money for it. The need in 2014 was transportation due to wear and tear on the current vehicles. The Arc NCR’s vehicles travel over 950,000 combined miles each year, and most vans were purchased in 2007-2008. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who contributed to this year’s Fund the Need campaign, more than $17,000 was raised towards vehicle maintenance fees and the purchase of the new van. Special thanks to the Dresher Foundation for their $15,000 matching grant.
