WHY:
The 15th annual Cal Ripken World Series (CRWS) will host the U.S. and International Championship games on Friday, August 15 at the Ripken Experience powered by Under Armour complex in Aberdeen, Md. The CRWS is where the world comes to play, the Ripken Way, and is the culminating tournament of the Babe Ruth League’s 12u Cal Ripken Division.
Host team Harford County defeated Team Maryland, 11-9, to move onto its first ever U.S. Championship appearance. Harford County will play the winner of the U.S. Semi Final matchup between an undefeated Team Southeast (Raleigh, NC) and Pacific SW (Handford, Cali.), set for a 5:30pm first pitch Thursday.
The championship games on August 15 and August 16 will be televised live on CBS Sports Network and include commentary by Cal Ripken. Coverage begins with the U.S. Championship on Friday, Aug. 15 at 5:00 p.m. EST and the International Championship at 7:30p.m EST. The World Championship begins at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16.
The CRWS unites the 10 best teams from across the United States, with 8 international teams, including newly added New Zealand and Puerto Rico. All games are played on the innovative fields at the Ripken Experience powered by Under Armour complex, including the one-of-a-kind Cal Sr.’s Yard, a two-thirds replica of Camden Yards.
