From the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company:
At the July General Body Meeting, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company (JMVFC) was presented with a citation from County Executive David Craig. The citation, delivered by Mary Chance, Director of Administration and Russell Strickland, Director of Emergency Services, was for the participation in the Edgewood Public Safety Initiative.
On April 26, 2014, the members of the JMVFC hit the streets of Edgewood to support Harford County Government’s Edgewood Public Safety Initiative. On this day, thirty-six volunteer firefighters, paramedics, cadets and administrative members went door-to-door on the following streets:
1700, 1800 & 1900 blocks of Brookside Drive
1800 block of Grempler Way
1700 block of Judy Way
1800 block of Simons Court
1000 block of Waterside Court
The day started at 10:00 am and before noon, 234 home were visited and 123 smoke alarms were installed. The Harford County Department of Administration and Department of Emergency Services helped provide funding to purchase the new 10-year tamper resistant smoke alarms.
