A Street man was fatally shot early Monday morning in what police said appeared to be a targeted home invasion.
According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home in the 1200 block of Trappe Road in Street just after 1 a.m. for a report of a home invasion. Arriving at the scene, deputies found Thomas Anderson, 38, dead of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Anderson’s family was home at the time of the incident, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Michael Crabbs said; his wife sustained a minor injury and refused treatment at the scene. The family told investigators that several unknown suspects broke through the home’s front door and confronted Anderson. Anderson was shot during the altercation, and died of his wounds at the scene.
Crabbs said that a “very preliminary” investigation found that Anderson appears to have been targeted; however, it is not clear whether he knew the suspects.

Second home invasion in a month — what’s up with that?
At least Maryland still permits its subjects to defend themselves inside the home. Sounds like my wife and I need another date at the range.
BRAC Family says
That’s the solution more guns so we can move toward anarchy in the streets.
LOL says
How would deal with a home invasion, BRAC Family?
MUFFMOUTHSKI says
BRAC Family most likely lives on base where they are protected by fences and armed military.
Easy for a douche like that to question the need for citizens to be able to defend themselves considering we are not provided the same level of protection as them.
FAI says
You must be right BRAC Family. There must not be any difference between getting a gun to protect yourself and family AGAINST people that intend to harm and getting a gun TO harm someone or take what they have and have worked for.
Kharn says
Because everyone knows there is no difference between incoming vs outgoing rounds. /s
PB says
Don’t kid yourself: defenseless people are the tastiest target to the animals in the street. Ask a cop.
There’s nothing wrong with defending you and yours when help is only minutes away. You should be ashamed of yourself for advocating helplessness.
Colonel Angus says
The police, including the State Police are too busy providing armed protection to busloads of illegals that are being imported in the State of Maryland.

I’m on Old Forge Hill, and thought we heard footsteps on the front porch right before the Thunderstorm…
King Donkey says
Not sure what the BRAC Family comment is about? Trolling?
A homeowner defending their life, and stopping a threat on their life in their home has nothing to do with “anarchy in the streets.”
Kharn says
BRAC Family is a typical former New Jersey resident, someone who thinks the government should have a monopoly on force and will always be there to save you right after the last commercial break.
Colonel Angus says
We have enough Jersey transplants running around OC, I hope they all find their way back to the Jersey Shore.
rjbaskins says
Always live by the motto “When seconds count, the police are just minutes away”
LOL says
The only “anarchy in the streets” I notice is that there are multiple reported suspects in this crime still roaming freely

Head in the Sand says
Pleeeease, people! Targeted! Home invasions are usually drug related. Dealers tend to have significant amounts of cash and drugs. The money is free cash and the drugs can be sold for more money. This invasion and the one in Havre de Grace were probably both drug related.
Who cares says
This is exactly why we need to keep the underground economy propped up. Lots of cash to be made when there’s no way to enforce contracts between consenting adults except through the use of violence.
amazing says
Head in the sand…
I no the family that this happened to and instead of assuming u no it all n calling people drug addicts. Or dealers you should get the facts and say a prayer for them. Because they were very respectful people. And that man was a father, husband, son, a brother n loved by a lot.
Head in the Sand says
Would that be father to the teenage sons, the Anderson Brothers, that drive around and give beatsdowns to local teens that owe them for drugs? If not, my apologies to the family who lived through this random nightmare.
AssUMe says
No, not the same Andersons
AssUMe says
You have no clue…so lets not assume anything. I know them very well and your comment is 100% inaccurate!!!!!!!!! A 14 year old girl had a gun to her head and watched her father get murdered…have some class
AssUMe says
Maybe you need to remove your head from the sand
Sheeple says
How do you know he was targeted? or maybe he was targeted, let’s say because his car was blue. Whatever the reason he was murdered in his house. You, might be targeted for the same reason look at the Christians in the Middle East right now. The fact is the Police and the State don’t and don’t have to “protect” you and “keep you safe” look it up! But what they do instead is make you a criminal when you take responsibility for yourself, so they can fool all the sheeple into thinking they are “protecting” them.
Union Member says
Just finished reading this same story on the NBC national new page on the Internet. For those of you who believe that our incidents of crime in Harford County is down, nothing could be further from the truth.
BeHonest says
The above statement courtesy of the Elect Gahler Committee.. Shameful.
BeHonestNotLikeBane says
No mention of Gahler here, but you have to stir the pot.
BeHonest says
Everyone know Union Member. You try to dominate every post with your anti-Bane propaganda. Can’t you just follow the thread? Don’t you think we are getting tired of hearing this stuff?
Union Member says
The thread is about crime. Murder to be specific. My point is that some believe crime is down here in Harford County. Nothing could be further from the truth. Crime is as prevalent now as it ever has been. Just read the news. It’s about crime, not politics. If I were to try and make you believe crime is down when it is not, that would be about politics.
stupid gun laws never work says
maryland always 2 steps behind all other states for self defence
when will maryland stop hugging the criminal type and get things right
I want to defend my family and myself without legal recourse or losing all I have in the process
if I was the GOV of maryland it would be CCW permits for all who can legally own a firearm
the professor says
if you want to run for GOV you would need to move to TX or down south somewhere, clearly your thinking is out of step within the State of Maryland. Cease and desist!.
vietnam vet says
Very likely Drug related. as for carrying a gun. the Criminal does not require a license. they have no respect for the law.
the professor says
How do you know the perpetrators weren’t legal gun owners? They became criminals the moment they purchase a gun. A gun can only be used to kill or hurt someone as it isn’t an accessory to deter crime or confrontation.
Miss Gulch says
I am so sad to hear of the news and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to this man’s family, friends and neighbors. What a frightening thing to happen, especially to what used to be a quiet, serene and bucolic Harford County.
Make no mistake about it, when it comes to protecting one’s home and family, at least having Smith and Wesson around is a bit comforting.
Pavel314 says
I prefer a double-barreled shotgun as the first line of defense with a pistol as backup.
the professor says
I’d prefer that guns become outlawed or at the very least heavily regulated and restricted as to who can own, have a gun and put the onus on current gun owners for the trade, use and damages caused by their guns. How many a shooters purchased their guns legally or took them from the family home to kill??? In my opinion, guns will be outlawed one day when the Constitution is amended to correct the mistake of giving every person a right to own a gun– which isn’t actually spelled out in the Constitution. What part of a well regulated militia is being followed???
Herpa Durpa says
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
It doesn’t say;
“The right of the militia to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
the professor says
I know what it says you dummy! that’s why I said the Constitution will be amended one day. Learn to read..
the professor says
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
That was the final and revised form as there were other forms adopted by other states and differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate. it goes on to explain that both a well regulated law applies to both the militia and an individual’s right to bear arms. Clearly, as of this moment the Supreme Court hasn’t been inclined to curtail that right but it has in numerous decisions cut away some of the broad provisions of the law as to who can bear arms and under what conditions and what types of arms would be part of a well regulated right which applies to both the state and the individual… I know you Jesus freaks believe the right to kill and defend your property but the times have changed as your civil rights and redress goes further today than in did during colonial types. You can’t just shoot someone without warning or knowledge of intent. Unless of course you live in Florida which allows you to think that tea and skittles are actually dangerous if you are dark and wear a hoodie.
One born every minute says
H,
In those days ‘well regulated’ meant in good working order – not well controlled by the government. The right of the individual to have a weapon, in common use today and easily accessible, has been reinforced by the Supreme Court. It needs a ‘shall issue’ case.
Herpa Durpa says
You’re no more a Professor than I am. LOL
the professor says
having a gun may make you feel like somebody, however it doesn’t actually make you smart. You are just as stupid with a gun as without one but somehow your adrenaline and ability to settle the dispute is magnified because you know how to pull a trigger? You need a brain transplant or at least a gunlock or restrict your ability to purchase ammunition. Yeah, lets regulate the bullets as the Constitution doesn’t say you have the right to have bullets ( sarcasm, in case you think I am being serious).
taco bella says
@herpes,
You may want to change that name as it doesn’t promote much about you unless being thought of as promiscuous is something to be proud. Hey, flaunt it and show it girlfriend. Guess you like all types of guns that shoot something.
Sheeple says
“How many a shooters purchased their guns legally or took them from the family home to kill???” —-That information is out there, look it up, but you’re going to be disappointed.
“In my opinion, guns will be outlawed one day when the Constitution is amended to correct the mistake of giving every person a right to own a gun– which isn’t actually spelled out in the Constitution. What part of a well regulated militia is being followed???”— Sorry wrong again, you are confusing a Militia with standing army, a militia is citizens with guns. Hopefully one day your opinion will be outlawed when the Constitution is amended to correct the mistake of free speech.
Sparky says
It’s Lionel Jesse Bane and his Harich Teeths fault.
Lenny Lane says
Sparky who or what is Harich Teeth? Is it a code name for Howard Walter? Did your smartphone convert what you meant to say? Is it a policing method? Or the name of the next helicopter? Please explain Harich Teeth!
Miss Gulch says
To the Professor, having a gun has nothing to do with whether someone is “smarter” or not. Let me first preface my comments with: all gun owners need to be responsible — receive proper training in handling a gun and always make sure that it is stored safely, especially around children and adolescents.
With that said, having protection against someone invading your home with malicious intent is not a bad thing. There’s so much violence in the streets these days that at least one should be able to feel safe in their home.
One born every minute says
P,
“actually dangerous if you are dark and wear a hoodie” – and banging your head against the concrete.
“settle the dispute is magnified because you know how to pull a trigger” – not going to settle much unless you squeeze the trigger, but in the dispute with a person who does not believe I have a right to my life and is trying to take it, I will squeeze. You can just go ahead and put a gun free sign in your yard and feel safe.

NRA 4 Life says
This is why a loaded shotgun is easily accessible in my home. Both of my kids have their Hunter Safety cards, know how to use and RESPECT a firearm, and know where it is. Its start with Safety. So I have no problem leaving them alone in the house with a loaded firearm standing by. they won’t miss, and I bet both of them (Boy and a Girl) will dust most adults on a trap range.
Tony Clifton says
You guys are funny, raging egos and testosterone.
I’m an NRA Member, but my first line of defense is an amazing alarm system. There is no getting past that.
It just probably makes more good common sense then having your kids traumatized by having to make the decision to kill another human being.
Freestate? says
As opposed to the trauma of being defenseless and being attacked.
Yup says
Good alarm system?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA that’s rich! You’re clearly uneducated in the way of criminals. Alarms will only scare away the softies.
Watch for a buggy says
T,
NRA = Not Really A member.
Al J Thong says
Hey Professor,
I can tell what is not smart. You show up uninvited at my house in the middle of the night without a gun. Thats not smart.
the professor says
Well, I am employed and don’t need to come to nobody’s house to steal. If I did though, I would make sure I’d bring a gun too. A pissing contest or a shooting contest it is all the same. Society can work better than have archaic law on the books that promotes killing and violence. Just because it is in the Constitution or isn’t doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. The Supreme Court has said that the government does have the right by way of state law to regulate arms. Leave it to the NRA? The would have everyone carry a gun just like in the wild west, notice it wasn’t called the docile west??
Colonel Angus says
“Come to nobody’s house”
Cleary you are not a professor of English you jackass.
HYDESMANN says
A alarm system is great but what do you do from the time the perp kicks in your door and starts walking up the steps to your bedroom and the 5,10 or 15 minutes( or in Detroit 45 mins to an hour) it takes the cops to get there? See above video from Col. Angus.
Tell it like it is says
Fact: Almost everything happens for a reason. Live by the sword (or drugs), die by the sword (or drugs). If any one is nieve enough to think this was a random event they need to wake up and smell the roses. Good words to live by “There is no hope in dope”. In most cases people who invade homes have prior knowledge of what they are looking for. Do the math.
Pamela says
And sometimes they might simply figure that you have a couple of flat screens, cash and jewelry that they’d like to take off your hands.
How about explaining the phrase, “street man”. What the heck does that mean?
Tell it like it is says
I think “Street Man” in the first sentence of the article means he lives in the Street, MD Post Office area. That PO is confusing to many when reading their address
Sheeple says
Wow! because he lives in Street MD
Forest Hill says
Story was updated today. Motive was robbery. Three masked men broke in, I think two of them were armed. I hope HCSO works around the clock to get these thugs off the streets!
the professor says
Thanks for the robbery update but I think a murder just happened because the ease in which guns can be obtained legal or otherwise. It would be nice if everyone could be screened by a blood test to determine good judgment in having a gun but unfortunately our nation’s forefathers were wrong on guns as they were on slavery. Something will just take sometime to be corrected. Same as biracial marriage and now gay marriage. Mark these words to be self evident in due time.
Union Member says
It is easy to obtain a gun illegally. It is much more difficult to obtain a gun legally. If your goal is to make it more difficult to obtain a gun that would only apply to those obtained legally. Illegal gun would still be easy to obtain.
the professor says
Thank you Union member,
Why? Because the sale of legally obtained guns is unregulated at resale, straw man sales and guns shows. It is harder to buy a car, have it registered and resold because there is regulation. The NRA’s goal is to sell weapons and will do anything to keep the right to bear arms as unrestricted as possible. I will grant that our culture has a deep love with guns because nothing symbolizes freedom that the right to protect yourself and your property and on many levels I don’t really have a problem with legal ownership but more with the construct of the law, its reformation over time until the 2nd amendment was passed and the current state of guns, violence and unfettered resale of weapons without any oversight. I don’t know that the forefathers saw the ability to develop semi-automatic, automatic and multiple magazine rounds that can be fired. In their world only single shot weapons were available.
To your other point that illegal guns as just easier to obtain? I don’t know of any shop that advertises and sales illegal guns??? Maybe you need to have access it because you are a felon but I am not, so I wouldn’t even know where to go to get an illegal weapon. I don’t think most people fall under your premise and most mass shootings don’t happen with illegally purchased weapons either.
Pavel314 says
Since you’re so anti-gun professor, why don’t you act on your convictions and put a sign in your front yard (or front door if you live in an apartment) stating “This is a gun free home”? Let people know where you stand where it counts. Since, according to you, gun ownership doesn’t deter crime, it shouldn’t cause you any problems.
Suffer not fools says
Pavel,
A self proclaimed ‘professor’ posts political banalities so thin any forum reader here can tell he cuts and pastes them from Democratic Underground.com. He posts this stuff in a Maryland forum with complete ignorance of the law regarding the transfer of regulated firearms in this state. And that is just one instance of stupidity. It is one thing to be wrong; it is another to make a fool of yourself.
Kharn says
The Professor,
You must be really isolated in your ivory tower to not know MD gun laws.
MD has required a firearms dealer or the state police be involved in ANY transfer of a handgun, including secondary sales and gifts for decades. Also, you’re required to attend training, supply fingerprints, provide a photograph, and pay a fee to receive a Handgun Qualification License (which you must present to the dealer) before you can receive a handgun.
There is no 8-day wait to buy a car, but there is to buy a handgun in MD.
Colonel Angus says
….and don’t forget the bullet ballistic fingerprint register from a fired round of the gun, a minimum magazine capacity restriction, a registration fee that is paid to the state every few years on your weapons and the FBI background check that takes up to 30 days.
The professor is a anti-gun nut loon.
Suffer not fools says
P,
It is not your naivete that is off putting – nor is it your constant misrepresentation of facts – all they amount to is impotent blathering – rather, it is your pompous declarations of the way you believe things should be for everybody that is so repulsive.
“It would be nice if everyone could be screened by a blood test to determine good judgment” and, of course, that would be judgment similar to yours.
Pronouncement after pronouncement… misleading generalities after misleading generalities… forecasting the loss of rights you don’t like. Oh, and what about the outright lies: “The NRA’s goal is to sell weapons.” Almost everything you post displays utter ignorance or thinly veiled deception.
The forefathers didn’t need to see technological advancement to understand the notions of misguided men. They understood people like you and your desire to lord over others.
And, as always, to cap it all off “our nation’s forefathers were wrong on guns as they were on slavery” – always interject race. It is quite sickening really.
the professor says
I think you are the one that pulled the race card, I merely mentioned that slavery was a wrong since corrected and guns is a wrong yet to be corrected. Everything everything you countered with is typical NRA propaganda, race bating and devoid of reason in today’s violence with shooting in malls, schools and lack of appreciation for the dangers that unregulated arms have caused. Yes, I suppose if someone wants to do harm they can find other way to do it. The capacity of automatic multiple round arms makes the ability to create the most damage in a rapid manner and with deadly consequences. I wonder if you would feel the same about guns if your family member was gunned down by a deranged individual with a legal weapon?
Miss Gulch says
If it wasnt a gun, they would have had a machete or knife. How about the guy sitting in Patterson Park when three thugs tried to rob him of his cell phone. One of them hit him in the face and neck with a mace (ball and chain with spikes). There is just an evil segment of our sociegy that preys on the law abiding citizens minding their own business.
Suffer not fools says
Miss,
I believe you touched on the key point missed by so many, and that is that evil does exist. You cannot reason with it and it will show you no mercy. And that is why there are basic rights, in fact primal rights, that are core to our existence as individual human beings. The right to protect the lives of ourselves and our families is the most basic of those rights. Those who do not understand evil will not understand the necessity of protecting oneself from it.
Suffer not fools says
Proffy,
“I don’t know of any shop that advertises and sales illegal guns??? Maybe you need to have access it because you are a felon” – You are a complete horseth asseth.
