From the Harford County Farm Fair:
The 27th Annual Harford County Farm Fair will be held from Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, August 3, 2014. Since the first Harford County Farm Fair was held in 1988, this annual event has been held at the Harford County Equestrian Center, which is publicly owned by the Harford County Government and is part of the Heavenly Waters Park administered by the County Department of Parks and Recreation and the volunteer Equestrian Center Recreation Council.
The mission of the Harford County Farm Fair is to promote Harford Countys agricultural heritage and encourage youth involvement in agricultural activities, particularly through 4-H, FFA, and the Ag Magnet Program in Harford County Public Schools. We provide educational displays showing how agriculture is a part of our daily lives and about conservation of natural resources.
On Thursday, July 31, the Farm Fair begins with the Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and ends the day with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. From opening on Thursday morning until closing on Sunday evening, the Farm Fair offers something for everyone to enjoy! Sherwood Amusements will be back with carnival rides, and the Rodeo returns on Sunday afternoon. Kidway will again offer a myriad of free games, entertainment, and activities for children, including Racing Pigs, Swimming Pigs, and Wacky Rubber Duck Races. There will be an Antique Tractor Pull on Thursday evening, and the Lucas Oil Truck and Tractor Pulls on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Live from the Showmobile stage will be a variety of local bands and singing groups.
The Farm Fair allows local residents to exhibit their home-grown vegetables and agricultural products, baked goods, crafts and needlework, photographs and artwork. We provide the opportunity for all ages to compete in pie and watermelon eating and a Spelling Bee. There are contests for Farm Babies and for Miss Harford County Farm Bureau. The 3rd Annual Farm Fair Talent Contest will be held on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2. And featured on Sunday, August 3 will be the Farm Fair Food, Beverage, and Crafts Fiesta – featuring locally produced cheeses, beer and wine tasting, and crafts by local artists. Joining the Fiesta in the Main Pavilion will be the Fresh Baked Peach Pie Contest and the Seasonal Sensations Culinary Competition. There are many ways for Harford Countians to share their skills and talents!
The Harford County Farm Fair Board of Directors wishes to thank the many, many volunteers, corporate sponsors, participating vendors, and especially Harford County Government for their enthusiastic support and encouragement over the years. It is because of our volunteers and sponsors that we are able to continue to provide such a successful and family-oriented community event.
We invite you to attend and enjoy the 27th Annual Harford County Farm Fair and celebrate with us the outstanding achievements of the agricultural community.

I liked all the political signs taped to the buses. You tax dollars at work supporting candidates.
Loyal Harford Dem says
I saw those, too! There was a Barry Glassman sign on the bus I took to get to the Fair and there was a Gahler sign on the bus I took to get back to the Blue Lot.
I hope this doesn’t mean that the Farm Fair is going to start endorsing candidates. I would love to see whoever is in charge of the Fair explain what’s going on!
Otto Schmidlap says
Not the same person who named Tydings and Hatem bridges and W S James E. S. and a bunch of other stuff like JFK Highway after dead Dems.
Whirlybirds for Bane says
L,
What? You didn’t get a VIP fly-in from ‘Helicopter’ Bane?
Mike Welsh says
Do you also expect to see booths set up at the Farm Fair that are there for the campaigning of the various candidates who are running for election? Those booths have been there in previous years. Nothing new here.
somebody says
tax dollars don’t pay for the fair.
The Quiet Man says
You should do some homework!!!!!!!!!
a concerned citizen says
It’s always about the money!

The Farm Fair.
Weekend for Harford County yuppies to drive park their big fancy SUV in grass. Spend an hour gawkimg at barnyard creatures, smell poop, and go to ChickAFil afterwards or whatever that fast food place is called.
somebody says
art the fair I see kids showing animals, possibly nurturing a career in agriculture, people of all ages enjoying the tractor pulls, the carnival, and other entertainment. I see community organizations and politicians out talking to the people… yes politicians actually out talking with the constituents. what I don’t see here are yuppies. it is mostly country folks.
Fred "Fruit Basket" Kollinwut says
That’s right THUMB ME DOWN HARD.
Thumb me down while you are stuffing a big greasy cheeseburger in your mouth, large fry, and 52oz Soda. OHHH YEAHH
GUMBALL MACHINE says
Just wait until 22/Beards Hill Restaurant is finished, there will be negligent road rage crashes there probably almost daily. Foamers driving real fast, cutting people off, running red lights to get themselves a sammich. Not to mention the backed up traffic that will ensue.
I don’t get why people bring their bratty, misbehaving, annoyingly loud kids to these places. Oh, I know why, because they want everyone else to endure their lack of parenting skill.

Hatem, Tydings and James were all sitting elected officials who had retired or were not running for re-election. Glassman and Gahler are still campaigning.
