Remember the “NO TRANSFER STATION” signs? Because someone in Harford County overpaid for property on Rt.7 and thought it would be a good location for transferring trash from our trash pick-up trucks onto larger 18-wheelers to take to Baltimore County, the citizens around that area stood united to prevent it.
Still “NO”!!! You do NOT put that type of setup in the middle of a large community surrounded by homeowners on a rural 2-lane road!
Also, many years ago big bucks were spent on a feasibility study to explore more than doubling the size of the APG Trash-to-Energy station. They were getting into high gear to do this in partnership with Harford County, which would have been one of the better solutions for Waste Management. WHAT HAPPENED??!! Someone should really investigate the details on why that failed since it was heard that the outgoing commander noted that APG was very disappointed that Harford County was not a backer for this project!(?)
We need some visionaries who can propose realistic and positive approaches to an ever-burdening situation regarding waste management in this County–and then get the backing of those in charge to move ahead. Putting things off too long creates a more expensive/urgent situation.

The proposed location of the “Bel Air Walmart” sounds like the perfect spot for a Waste transfer station.
Multiple lane roads (new 24), straight and clear access to Baltimore county by routes 40, 7 and Interstate 95. Perfect.

Thumb me down, NIMBY’s.
With a waste transfer station, you all won’t have to fear monger about the specific “crime” you conjur up from a large commercial retail platform.
Don’t insult more intelligent people like myself by saying the traffic will be horrible. Its already BEEN bad, we are way beyond that complaint.
When ya shopping and taking ya kids out for ice cream, take a deep breathe. Smell that? Smells like fresh rotten turds at the waste transfer station.
