From the Maryland State Highway Administration:
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has completed the engineering and design phase for the MD 24 (Rocks Road) Section A Slope Stabilization Project in Harford County. The construction phase is getting underway this month and Corman Construction of Annapolis Junction, MD is SHA’s contractor for the $6.2 million project.
Pre-construction activities began along Rocks Road today, Monday, July 14. Crews have installed portable digital message boards along northbound and southbound Rocks Road alerting motorists to the upcoming road closure and detour (please see attached map). In the next week, crews will install construction detour guide signs along Rocks Road, MD 23 (East-West Highway) and MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) and there may be temporary single lane closures and flagging operations as needed to install signs and perform other pre-construction activities.
Beginning on or after Monday morning, July 21, weather permitting, SHA and Corman Construction will close Rocks Road to through traffic between MD 23 (East-West Highway) and MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) and to all traffic between Rocks Chrome Hill Road and St. Clair Bridge Road. All through traffic on Rocks Road will be directed by temporary detour guide signs to the posted detour route of East-West Highway and Federal Hill Road. The road closure and detour will be in effect through fall 2014.
