As many of you know M.O.M.S. of MD was founded in Harford County, Maryland by myself and Daphne L. Alston in 2009 after the murder of our sons. We worked together with the Sheriff’s Office, Edgewood Community Council, Councilman Dion Guthrie, Art Helton and other political figures to combat the violence that was occurring in Edgewood and Harford County. Things seemed to quiet down; but we kept a watchful eye. M.O.M.S. of MD branched out to Baltimore in 2011 to help the residents of Baltimore combat the violence – a work still in progress. But now we need to help Edgewood out again. WE NEVER LEFT; BUT WE ARE BACK!!! FYI – I have a vested interest in this endeavor – I LIVE HERE – Windsor Valley!!!

Bane can’t control members of his command staff how is he going to stop crime. Bane has done one thing smart in six years. He appointed a Chief Deputy who has a better resume for being Sheriff and running this department better then he can. I know the people would be a lot happier if Jesse would just stay in his office and read his pop up books on Serpico.

Really sad when the Sheriff can not stop crime and a group has to be formed to walk the streets to try to stop crime. Says a lot about the last six years of the Bane administration and its inability to stop this. Yes I know crime is down, no numbers are tweaked. Called liberal math.

I agree with you. Some of the posters are or pretend to be deputies. They should know that. It would make their job easier.
I’am sure after Ms. Samy’s walk, the Sheriff’s department can retire.
I’m sure Sheriff Bane could make the problem go away once and for all. The problem all you bleeding heart liberals would be the first to complain. Maybe we could hear Mr. Marc A Eaton’s plan after all were all in this together.
I have posted my plan twice and would do what we did back when Meadows was Sheriff and it worked. I am not running for Sheriff. Bane is and he is silent as always on what to do. In six years he has not been able to do anything so I don’t see him doing anything but hold a candle and take a stroll in Edgewood.

Sheriff Bane continues to make inroads in the community. Better to have a good working relationship with community leaders than trying to function from an adversarial position.
Another new name being used by someone on the second floor. Please tell us what Bane has done besides playing politics for the black vote in this community? Do you count covering a homicide victim up with a blanket and contaminating a crime scene at the objection of a very experienced detective and inroad? Gang bangers with Bane’s cell phone number in their contacts? How many bodies have dropped in Edgewood under his watch? How many deaths at the Jail? In order to fix the problem you need to ruffle some feathers, a lot of feathers and Bane is a politician and he will not do it. If he shows up for the walk this should tell every voter that he puts politics ahead of real problem solving.
Look, I’m no fan of the politics in a Sheriff’s department and I am not taking a side regarding J. Bane – but you seriously need to ask the question “Do police anywhere really prevent crimes?” Aside from a specific cop parked in front of a specific bank, robberies do occur. Crimes are committed in every setting and location imagineable, and although criminals are not our brightest citizens, they tend not to commit their crimes directly in front of a cop.
The job of police is to investigate crime.

That may be so, but take a look at the underlying issues within the community and there lies your answer. Schools in Bel Air and Fallston have very hgh levels of parent participation in the schools. The PTAs in those two communities are very strong. In the Edgewood area and along Rt 40, parents do not come to the schools and they are not involved with their children’s education (in general). It’s very sad but it starts at home and within the family.

I saw it. It was pathetic!!!!! Mabey 15 people walking throughout the neighborhood, half of them looking down at their phones. Undercovers need to be planted in the houses, live there, get to know who is who!!! Wtf is wrong with this police dept.
