From the Office of the Comptroller of Maryland:
Comptroller Peter Franchot has named Wayne Green to head his General Accounting Division. Mr. Green has more than 30 years of financial auditing and management-related experience serving in various state government agencies. Before joining the General Accounting Division, he served as assistant director of the Revenue Administration Division and previously worked in finance for the Judiciary of Maryland.
“I am confident that Wayne’s extensive knowledge of the agency and state government in general, as well as his excellent leadership skills and focus on team work, will lead the division to accomplish great things,” Comptroller Franchot said. “I wish Wayne well in his new role.”
Mr. Green oversees the processing of payments to vendors of the State of Maryland – 2 million invoices annually totaling $35 billion — and auditing and approval of payments for disbursement. He also administers the division’s $5.5 million budget and is responsible for preparing the state’s yearly Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
Mr. Green, a Certified Public Accountant, is a graduate of Loyola University and is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. He currently lives in Bel Air and has a daughter.
