From The Highlands School:
The Highlands School is excited to announce the introduction of 9th Grade in the Fall of 2014. One grade year each year will be added for the next four years until the program extends from Kindergarten through 12th Grades. The focus of this newly designed Upper School will revolve around rigorous academics in a personalized, small class environment. Each Upper School grade will be limited to 12 students, making students truly privileged to be a part of this individualized, unique program.
The Upper School program is designed for engaged learners who are bright and creative. It is intended to expand our students’ problem solving and leadership abilities by tackling real life situations. The small group setting will allow students to get involved, instead of learning from the side lines. Students may or may not need accommodations to be successful.
The Highlands School philosophy of “learning through hands-on activities” will continue and even be magnified in the Upper School through group projects where students will gain critical interpersonal, organization, and time management skills. The academic program will be intensified by experiential learning and provide students the ability to explore and question their surroundings. They will begin to navigate their own way into the future through internships and college-prep support. Students will be encouraged to pursue their own passions and therefore discover who they are meant to be.
Through an interesting, fun, and experiential-rich curriculum, Highlands students are not only prepared for college, but for life! Visitors are welcomed to explore all that Highlands has to offer.
