An Edgewood man was shot and killed in what appeared to be a domestic incident, police said, marking the third domestic-related shooting in Harford County in a month.
According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8 p.m. Monday deputies responded to a 911 report of a shooting in the 3100 block of Mahonia Way in Edgewood. The female caller claimed she was assaulted by her boyfriend and shot him during the altercation.
Arriving at the scene, police said deputies discovered a 37-year-old male dead inside the home. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the assault and was taken to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for treatment. The couple had children according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Edward Hopkins; deputies were still investigating where the youths were at the time of the shooting. The identities of the man and woman were not immediately released; an investigation was ongoing late Monday night.
The incident comes nearly two weeks after a Baltimore man took his wife hostage in her car outside Bel Air overnight before shooting her and in turn being shot and killed by Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies on the morning of May 20.
On May 2, a Bel Air man shot his girlfriend in the stomach and then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
