From Harford County government:
The Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits (DILP) announced changes to the county’s dog licensing procedures that took effect on February 18, 2014. These changes are the result of Harford County Council Bill 13-47, introduced at DILP’s request and passed unanimously in December, 2013.
Changes to the licensing procedure include:
A one-time extension for current licenses set to expire June 30, 2014 was approved. The extension will establish a new expiration date of September 1, 2014.
All dog licenses issued after February 18, 2014 are set to expire one year from date of issuance.
For this year only, renewal notices sent out in May will go out in July. All future renewal notices will be sent 30 days prior to the license expiration.
For more information, please contact Rich Truitt, Deputy Director for the Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits at 410-638-3366.

There wasn’t enough work-load for DILP with the 3-year licenses?

They’ll now get three times as much money. Typical Maryland, anything they can do to squeeze more money out of us to keep the political class enriched.
F.L. says
Make more money if they’d tax cats.
F.L. says
Where is the ACLU on this issue. Tax one pet and not others. Does size matter, dog of course. The bigger, the more output. Should the owner now be also subject to an additional flush/rain tax? I mean, it’s going somewhere, correct? Why are cats off limits? Fish? Reptiles? Who enforces compliance? What if a owner does not comply? Food for thought …. but do it in one “flush.” We are a state of conservation.
Pavel314 says
If all pets were taxed equally, only millionaires would be able to afford an ant farm.

I think they should make it illegal for the dogs to go outside. They’re a nuisance to the neighborhood.

Gives a new meaning to Doggy style, doesn’t it?

Fluffy, are you a fluffer?

I keep my dogs on my property. That way, they I don’t allow them to urinate and dedicate all over my neighbors’property or open space where others can go to enjoy themselves. I”ve never understood why dog owners allow their pet to infringe on the health and happiness of others. This includes incessant barking.
tiredofthebullsh#t says
Oops, I meant defecate.
Hedley Lamarr says
Is there a difference in prices between white dogs and black dogs?
rocco says
Should dogs without a license be called illegal or undocumented? Will the police profile smaller tanned dogs as Hispanic? Will black dogs be arrested for sniffing while black? Will the county have a preferential policy of affirmative dog action and allow non-white dogs to pee on the hydrant without any repercussions? Will the Chihuahua puppies be required to bark in English instead of Mexican?
MUFFMOUTHSKI says
I propose a free life time license for anyone who rescues a dog from the humane society of Harford County.
The county should provide this no-charge to encourage the rescue of dogs.
Denise Wingler says
People should have to clean up after their PETS & not just after their DOGS! Hell they don’t clean up after themselves let alone after their pets! All pets should have a license and not just dogs! They should all be chipped also.
