The Board of Education of Harford County met for an open business meeting at 6:30pm in the Board Room of the A. A. Roberty Building and took the following actions and received the following presentations:
– Future Business Leaders of America State Officer – Ashley Harbold, NHHS
– HCPS 2014 Nurse of the Year – Dawn Higinbothom, FAHS
– Destination Imagination Global Tournament Qualifiers
Received Public Comment
– Tracy Lovvorn – Shared that on May 10, 2014 the Engineering Club at C. Milton Wright High School qualified for the Washington Electric Vehicle Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. The team won the Innovation Award during the competition. Ms. Lovvorn questioned why the students weren’t allowed to race their vehicles in the competition.

Received Superintendent’s Report
– Red Pump Elementary received the Maeoe Green School Award for Environmental Best Practices. They were also recognized as the June 2014 Best Practices of the Month from the Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University. We are very proud of this recognition.
