A porta-pot located on the grounds of Bakerfield Elementary was destroyed in a Sunday night fire lit by an unknown person or persons, fire officials said.
The fire was reported by a passerby at Bakerfield Elementary on Baker Street in Aberdeen just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A pair of firefighters from the Aberdeen Fire Department responded and brought the blaze under control in about five minutes. Damage to the porta-pot was estimated at $1,000.
The same porta-pot was intentionally ignited the previous night at approximately 11:30 p.m., the State Fire Marshal’s Office said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office at (410) 836-4844.
