From Harford County government:
A steady stream of Harford County residents filled the grounds of the Bel Air Reckord Armory on Saturday, May 3, 2014. They experienced the excitement of the 5th Annual Celebration of Cultures hosted by LASOS (Linking All So Others Succeed), Harford County Human Relations Commission, and the Town of Bel Air. It was sponsored by the Harford County Cultural Arts Board and APGFCU. The Celebration was a family-friendly event designed to spotlight the many cultures that call Harford County home.
Attendees enjoyed cultural performances throughout the day including:
• Amartia the Bellydancer
• Saints Mary Magdalene and Markella Greek Orthodox Church Dancers
• Kilcoyne Irish Dancers
• Chungs Martial Arts Demonstration
• Storytelling with Janice the Griot
People experienced world trade exhibits. A favorite was Guess the Culture where attendees saw and handled odd items and tried to guess where the items originated and their use. There was even a chance to taste some treats at this station.
Talented local artisans offered handmade wares ranging from jewelry to pottery at reasonable prices.
The Celebration also included a delightful Children’s Garden with stops for face painting, henna designs, petting Peter Cottontail, etc.
