Victim and Suspect Identified in Street Shooting/Suicide; 29-Yr-Old Woman Remains in Critical Condition

The victim and suspect in last night’s shooting\suicide have been identified:

Victim: Ashley R.Cook, 29, of the 3800 block of Salem Church Road in Jarrettsville. She remains at STU in critical condition.

Suspect: Joseph Nathan Soule, 27, of 2505 Cullum Road, Bel Air. Deceased.

According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect came to the house in the 3700 block Burkins Rd. in Street Maryland. Ms. Cook is a home health care worker taking care of an elderly resident at at home in that hundred block. The suspect came to the home and began causing damage to her car. She went outside to ascertain what was occurring and confronted the suspect. They got into an argument during which the suspect pulled a hand gun and shot her in the stomach. He then shot himself. He died at the scene.

The investigation will continue pending further interviews with the victim as her condition improves at Shock Trauma.
