Man Dead, Woman Critically Injured in Domestic Shooting/Suicide in Street

From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:

Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a domestic related shooting and suicide which occurred earlier this evening. Shortly after 7pm, deputies were dispatched to the 3700 block of Burkins Road, for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival they discovered a male subject deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a female subject who had been shot in the abdomen.

The suspect is a 27 year old male and the victim is a 29 year old female. Both individuals were romantically involved. The male subject reportedly came to the residence where he began damaging the victim’s car. When she confronted him an argument ensued during which he pulled a handgun and shot the woman. He then took his own life suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The woman was treated at the scene by EMS personnel from the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company and then transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter. Her condition is critical. The male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the victim and suspect are being withheld pending notification to their next of kin.
