From Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
At 9:18 pm on 4/28/2014, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4600 block of Clermont Mill Road for a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, deputies found the driver, 21 year old Nicholas Paul Bellinger of 2300 block Whiteford Road, Whiteford MD outside the vehicle and 22 year old passenger Joseph Paul Giannasca of the 1000 block Woodshire Lane, Street, Maryland was trapped inside a 2004 Nissan Sentra passenger car . The vehicle had been traveling southbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Both men were treated at the scene by volunteer fire and EMS crews from Norrisville and Jarrettsville VFC with Mr. Bellinger being transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and Mr. Giannasca transported by ambulance to York (PA) Hospital. Weather conditions prevented the patient from being transported by Medivac. Mr. Giannasca later died of his injuries.
HCSO MVC reconstructionists were called to the scene and the crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.

My prayers go out for you and you’re family. You have my deepest sympathy.

I wonder if speed or alcohol played a factor in this crash?
word on the street says
Really it’s none of your business.

knowing the family and my cousin..i really doubt if joey was driinking or doing drugs.. please keep your stupidity to yourself…
suellen says
they have had enough death in their family in the past 20 yrs..or more actually.. this should not have happened..God… why do u see fit to rob this family of another person??unless you know this family please save your comments and just give your condolenses.. that would be nice..

Suellen- sometimes you find out things about people that you just didn’t know. This May or may not be a case where a substance played a factor. I don’t think that Marshal Law was out of line I think they were making a general statement. I think everyone has sympathy but some wonder what caused this. Maybe since you know the family so well you can let everyone know what happened.

I wonder if “Marshal Law” has a heart? Then again maybe that’s how they’re made on “Mars”
Marshal Law says
Cars just don’t leave the roadway on their own. It was a simple question related to the cause of the accident and what factors MAY have played a role in it.
suellen says
considering the driver wasnt my cousin … i have no idea.. but joey is the one that died..so keep your morbidity to yourself it isnt a normal question..unless you just are looking for someone or something to blame its not your family so mind your own business… and to whoever wanted to know if marshall law has a heart i doubt it.. my cousin has enough to do than deal with idiots being stupider than they usually are…

It doesn’t really matter what the conditions were. There’s a grieving family who lost a son and a young man who will have to live with this tragedy for the rest of his life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Giannasca family at this difficult time. Hope the friend makes a full recovery and gets the help he needs.
Marshal Law says
More and more in this county you hear of accidents that alcohol played a factor in. Most of them involve young folks. Now we as a society can turn our back and pretend that a problem doesn’t exist or we can do what is right and educate our younger generation. I don’t know if alcohol played a factor in this accident but if it did it should be used as an example for our youth to learn what the consequences can be.

I personally know the family and I can tell you that the pain they are experiencing at this time is unthinkable. Also someone commented “cars don’t just go off the roadway.” It was rainy that night so don’t jump to conclusions. At this point I think it would be best for everyone to stop playing Sherlock Holmes and leave the questioning to the police. Allow the Giannascas to manage their grief privately.

No one is “turning their back” on anything. From the police to theedical professionals, the professionals are doing their job to find out what happened. In the meantime, there is a young man who tragically lost his life and a family just beginning to deal with the grief of losing a child. Now is not the time to be jumping to conclusions. As a medical professional, just to let you know, there are myriad antialcohol programs out there, including one that takes kids to shock ttrauma. All with limited effect. The issue is more complex than you present.
Lets just send our condolences to the family right now.

Thank you so much for this comment. All that’s important to the public right now is sending the parents and brothers of joe love and prayers.
