From Harford County government:
Harford County Department of Emergency Services employees Michael Brunicke, Clarence Ross, John Simpson and Forney Buchanan have been named the Harford County Employees of the Month for April 2014.
Many times the four men have come in on their days off or after their work day and plowed the lot and shoveled the walkways between every shift. These actions are not directly related to their job classification and yet they take these actions in order to provide a safer work environment for those that have to work under these conditions.
This winter season had an above average amount of snow storms as compared to recent history. Brunicke, Ross, Simpson and Buchanan provided much needed assistance to co-workers. Ross also helped a dispatcher whose car was stuck after slipping down a slight hill in the parking lot during one storm. He shoveled the whole area in front of her car before assisting pushing her car over the ice and into the parking area of the lot.
“I cannot think of a better way to honor their commitment to our safety than to nominate them for this award,” said Timothy E. Coale with the Department of Emergency Services.
Coale nominated the two men for the award. He credits them with going above and beyond to keep people safe.
