The Harford Tech Cobras got off to a terrific start, and ran away from the host Havre de Grace Warriors in Girl’s Lacrosse action Tuesday evening. The Cobras succeeded with an aggressive offensive attack, and never trailed in the game. Harford Tech’s Becca Williams scored six goals to lead all scorers.
The Warriors won the opening draw and got a shot off on their first possession, but came up empty. The Cobras took advantage and scored three consecutive goals to open up a 3-0 lead in the game’s opening minutes. Courtney Poole opened the scoring, and Williams, a captain for the Harford Tech squad, scored Cobra goals two and three.
Havre de Grace fought back, and used goals from Lauren Herrington and Maddi Cypher to close the gap to 3-2 in favor of Harford Tech. However, Poole and Williams would strike again, and Tori Arcilesi would join the party, giving the Cobras a 6-2 lead. The game turned with three minutes left in the first half, as Cobra goalie Bryana Wyatt made two spectacular, point-blank saves, keeping the Cobra lead at four heading into halftime.
Williams would score three more goals in the second half, and Bethany Bishop scored twice as well for Harford Tech. For Havre de Grace, Brianna Clark, Taylor Johnson, and Colleen McCormick would find the back of the net.
