From the Harford County Public Library:
“Romancing the Chrome,” the largest car show of its kind in Northeastern Maryland, takes place on Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jarrett’s Field in Jarrettsville. The event is family friendly, and admission is free of charge.
The day features approximately 250 automobiles, live music, vendors, food concessions, a beer garden and more. Car owners will compete for the $500 Best in Show prize in various categories including classic, antique, muscle, sports, imports, trucks, SUVs, Jeeps and exotics. In addition, the Harford County Public Library Foundation and the Jarrettsville Lions are proud to share that Zach Maskell, Car Culture Reporter for Motorweek, will be attending as a celebrity judge. Those interested in entering their cars in the competition should visit romancingthechrome.org or call 410-273-5600.
Romancing the Chrome is organized by the Harford County Public Library Foundation and the Jarrettsville Lions Club and serves as a fundraiser for both organizations. In 2013, more than 200 car enthusiasts participated in the show, and approximately 1,700 people attended, raising $10,000 that was split by both organizations. The goals for 2014 are 250 car entrants, 2,000 guests and $15,000 raised.
Tim Keck, owner of several cars that were entered in the 2013 show, said, “This was one of the finest car shows I have ever been to, and I have been doing this for over 25 years. The people, cars, spacing, judges, music—all magnificent.”
Activities during the day include live music; concessions by Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli, Pond View Pit Crew and WOLO Food Truck; a beer garden; and a variety of exhibits from vendors. Vendors include Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, Harford County Sherriff’s Department, Harford County Public Library, Gutter Helmet Systems, Chad Shrodes, Long and Foster Real Estate, Maryland Insurance Administration, APEX Massage, Cherry Restorations, No Kill Harford, Harford Technology Group, Solar Universe and more.
The Headlining Sponsor is Keene Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. The Premiere Sponsors are Mr. Tire and Waste Industries. Jack’s Small Engines is a Supporting Sponsor. Contributing Sponsors are Liberty Mutual Insurance, APG Federal Credit Union, Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli, Caswell Testing, Carl’s Door Service, Atlantic Tractor and WXCY.
“Romancing the Chrome has become a tradition for Maryland car enthusiasts and has grown significantly since it was founded in 2011,”explained Amber C. Shrodes, foundation director for Harford County Public Library and an organizer of the event. “It provides something for everyone, from great food to interesting vendors to a beautiful day in the country.”
Jarrett’s Field is located at 3719 Norrisville Road in Jarrettsville. In case of rain, Romancing the Chrome will be held Saturday, April 26. For more information, call 410-273-5600 or visit romancingthechrome.org.
