From the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore:
Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced today that Michelle Renee Tarbert, 47, of Abingdon, has been charged with one count of felony insurance fraud. Insurance fraud having a value of $300 or more is a felony punishable by a maximum sentence of 15 years incarceration and a $10,000 fine.
The investigation revealed that from April 12-26, 2013, Ms. Tarbert made false oral and written statements to Encompass Insurance Company in support of an insurance claim, which involved the supposed loss of a diamond ring.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation of wrongdoing and the defendant is presumed innocent unless the State proves her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The case is being prosecuted by the Insurance Fraud Unit of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, with assistance from the Maryland Insurance Administration and the Maryland State Police.

Such a shame as to what lengths people will go to be dishonest in order to get something that doesn’t even belong to them. How embarassing for herself and family members. Hope she gets the help that is apparently needed.
Michelle Tarbert says
My only response to Ms. Snyder . .you have no idea surrounding the facts of this “charge” nor do you know me at all. Therefore, you have no basis for comment. Why don’t you get a life and stay out of mine. I am done with your family; you, Barry and everyone else . . leave me and my family alone. I finally have peace in my life and that is how I would like for it to remain. I do pray for you all.

If only Ms. Tarbet was an elected employee then her case would be handled far less stringently a la MD Attorney General Gansler. Heck, even his own experiences with minors and booze are forgiven and brushed under the table all because he feigned ignorance. Breaking the law is breaking the law no matter WHO you are.

How did Mr. Gansler break the law?? Attending a party in another state is not a crime or is his responsibility to make sure that everyone at said party is a person over 21. Last time I checked, making sure your OWN child is doing OK is not a crime..

He was consuming alcohol with minors, at a party.
Doesn’t take a genius to figure it out, and yes….an adult is supposed to ensure that they are in proper company when consuming alcohol.
