“I have been leading the fight to give people the right to opt-out from receiving a smart meter. I believe that smart meters only benefit the utility companies, NOT the citizens of Maryland. There have been numerous fires in other states caused by smart meter installation. There have also been studies that show that smart meters may be harmful to your health. The utility companies have not done studies on health related to smart meters.
There is also the issue of privacy when it comes to smart meters. Smart meters can monitor what is going on in your house, 24/7. The citizens of Maryland should not have to pay a fee to keep this from happening.
Currently, there are smart meter bills in the Senate, which I support, that will be voted on soon. I am hopeful they will pass so that we can give the citizens of Maryland the right to opt-out from a smart meter without having to pay excessive fees, including a monthly forever fee that never goes away.”

I guess it is easier to bill yourself as a champion of the people on and issue that is a complete NON issue, then to actually tackle real problems. It is shameful that we pay you to waste your time with nonsense.
TO Del. Glass. I know you have been working hard on this issue. When the BGE “contractor” came to my house last week, I asked who gave them permission to change my meter as I wanted to opt out and notified BGE of the same. They told me I don’t have a choice and if I did not let them proceed thay would call the Sheriff.
The meter already on your house is owned by the utility company. You prevented them from updating their equipment. You really are seriously out of touch with your rights on this issue and have an overdeveloped sense of fear as well as entitlemnet

Instead of charging someone to keep the old meter, why doesn’t the power company pass on the savings to all those who embrace the new meter as a monthly bonus? The power company is in business to make money… so the top execs can have their juicy bonuses. F*ck them. “Smart” meters are not intended to save the customer anything. Never confuse Capitalism with caring. Do you think the execs will shed a tear when they fire the meter readers?

You all are confusing “right” with “free market capitalism”. BGE doesn’t have to pass on savings, they are a FOR PROFIT company. Or would you all prefer we have the government take over electrical supply? Oh wait, all you tin foil hat wearing wackos would FREAK OUT then eh? You DO have the right to say, “get all your equipment out of here” and do without electricity, but that ain’t gonna happen is it blowhards?
BGE is a regulated utility, as heard in some commercials. They have to abide by
rules set up to counter the fact that they have monopoly power over customers.
Really? Smart meters can monitor what is going on in my house 24/7? How about they can track how much electricity is being used and when? NOT what it is being used for and certainly not what is going on in my house! You Delegate Glass, are an idiot. Looking to champion a made up cause to divert attention from the real issues legislators should be concerning themselves with. Like filling out your brackets for Gods sake! Obama found time from his schedule as leader of the free world to do his, you are slipping!

The folks in Glass’s district need to realize no matter what issue he is working on, Glass is not capable of achieving anything in Annapolis, he is considered a goof!
BGE, please come and install the smart meter on my house as soon as possible. I want them to know how many times my electric is out as we lose service several times every year. Delegate Glass, move on and fight a real issue like less taxes in this greedy State.
