From Harford County Public Schools:
State Superintendent of Schools Lillian Lowery will visit kindergarten students at Emmorton Elementary School on Friday afternoon to read to the children as part of the annual “Read Across Maryland” celebration.
The Maryland State Department of Education, MSDE’s Division of Library Development and Services, and MSDE’s Division of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability and Harford County Public Schools have joined with the Governor’s Office to celebrate this annual event throughout March. The event highlights the importance of reading by setting aside thirty minutes a day to read.
With the slogan, “Thirty Minutes for Thirty Days,” students and library customers alike are encouraged to download a Read Across Maryland reading log, record their progress for the month, and upload the log to the Read Across Maryland website (http://www.readacrossmaryland.org/).
Harford County Superintendent Barbara Canavan; Dr. Susan Brown, Acting Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; and Principal Peter Carpenter will also be on hand for the visit.
