I predict there soon will be a facebook page of concerned citizens for red pump road where people can publicly lose their minds with nonsensical rants.
The Money Tree says
What rock did you roll out from under this morning? Listen dirtbag if people want to show up at a community input meeting or start a facebook page to voice their concern about anything that effects thier property value, ingress/egress, effect of open space, concern for woodland and wildlife, etc., anything that directly effects them or thier property then bully for them. Some may just want information and some may want to object but it’s part of our democratic process, part of our constitutional right to say whatever we want to government and in any venue. Shove it.
BillH says
Don’t you have some shirts to iron?
The Money Tree says
I repeat “shove it”.
Elsie says
Agree! It is only because people become AWARE and then DISCUSS in a CIVIL environment their understanding of an issue so they can pursue what they believe in. Engaging with others who are concerned about their community is appropriate and much needed in Harford County.
BillH says
Yes Elsie, an informed discussion from both sides in very important. It’s the uninformed, wanting to ram their nimby emotional ideas that result in ugly conflict and name calling, like money tree does all too well with lots of experience. I can only imagine what a joy she must be to have as a neighbor.
Community inputter says
I second Money Tree – shove it!!
If you have nothing positive to add, keep you mouth shut!!
THE NIMBY says
FINALLY, THE NIMBY HAS COME BACK TO THE DAGGA. The Nimby says shut yo mouth and know your roll.
Facebook page for emotional and irrational rants, great idea. “Social media” has provided a way to show the extreme low intellect of many people, see; HCPS Facebook “profile” when school’s are canceled or delayed due to weather. Better get your popcorn out.
Thumb me up IF YA LIKE WHAT THE NIMBY IS COOKING.
The Money Tree says
You folks don’t even understand the concept of NIMBY. That’s when people want a certain thing (eg. wind, solar, etc.), but want whatever it takes to have that built somewhere else. Nimby in this case isn’t the concerned neighbors it’s the developers. I think Snee lives out Grafton Shop, Turner lives in Darlington, Euler lives in Fallson on a very large lot. I bet I could make you a pretty long list of “others” involved in development most of whom deliberately avoid the very thing they’re so gung ho on creating; it’s just that it’s in somebody elses back yard. Apparently they appreciate open space for thier own use, just not so much when it comes to others.
Steve Jacobs says
So, a little jealous there….aren’t you Money Tree?
If you don’t like where you are currently living, why don’t you move? Montana has all kinds of open space.
These developers are taking opportunities that benefit them. They are in business to make a profit. They are doing nothing illegal. It’s nice that they let the public vent at community meetings, but it’s really none of your business.
I moved into my house 30 years ago. Before purchasing I researched what could happen in my area while I’ll was here. Cornfield on one side and woods on the other.
You probably should have exercised more forward thinking, instead of bitching about what you have no power in changing.
The Money Tree says
I live in Fallston and most of this development isn’t anywhere around me but I sure don’t champion ridiculing my neighbors across the county who have concerns about their communities. It has zero to do with envy. I do find it less than amusing the Mr. Snee would use language such as “tree huggers” and other dismissive comments when describing local community concerns when he choses to live far from that which he derives income (and the effect of). Nothing against the guy making money but if he thought high-density development was so great why doesn’t he live by his own sword and move in next door? He ought to be happy to have flood lights shined into his own backyard 24/7.
BillH says
What does anything you are blathering on about here have to do with townhouses being built on red pump road?
The Money Tree says
“I predict there soon will be a facebook page of concerned citizens for red pump road where people can publicly lose their minds with nonsensical rants.” You initial email had nothing to do with townhouses on red pump but apparently was designed to insult your concerned neighbors. Shove it pinhead.
BillH says
Why yes my initial comment did have something to do with town houses on red pump so again what does any of your rants have to do with it?
I’ll take nothing for $100 Alex…..
Elsie says
Nothing is engraved in stone in Harford County. Those woods and cornfields you think protect your bucolic yard can easily start sprouting houses, apartments, townhomes, etc. resulting in increased traffic and overcrowded schools in what had formerly been a “rural/ag” setting.
Do some more research and discover what happened over the past 30 years as far as zoning changes being made to benefit the poor “for profit” developers who need to make a living by changing the communities we all live in. If enough citizens attend some of the hearings and clearly state their concerns, modifications as to the layout (ingress/egress) of roads within a development onto main thoroughfares as well as the NUMBER of compressed residences to be situated in a new development can sometimes be modified to be more suitable and less overcrowding to the existing neighborhoods.
I think everyone should try to maintain a certain level of respect for one another and perhaps attend to comment on the issue being debated. It benefits no one to have to read some of the name-calling/bullying that appears on this site. Can’t we all try to be better citizens and share important dialog in a civil manner?
Steve Jacobs says
I own the cornfield and woods, so I’m good……
BillH says
Well don’t ever try to exercise your legal right to sell it for development and cash in on your hard earned investment. Money tree will do everything she can to destroy your pursuit of happiness because hers is much more important and the government needs to be aware of that.
Community inputter says
Elsie said it best when she said nothing is engraved in stone in Harford county. Eva mar farm was zoned AG prior to 1982. It was rezoned to R1 in a process that did not inform the owners of that change. The owners wanted to preserve the property as agricultural in recent years but to their chagrin learned that it could not be preserved because it was zoned R1. So there is a little reality for you two clowns who think you are safe and promote freedom to do what ever you want with your property. NOT in Harford county, you do what the county says you can do with your property.
And then for those of us who did do our research and learned that the property was zoned R1, we got the surprise that R1 really isn’t R1 when it comes to CCRCs. All of us would have been just fine if the development was all houses as R1 indicates. But there is a big exception, CCRCs are allowed as a matter of right on R1 at the rate of 25 units per acre. Not exactly low density single family home residential as expected. Every other county in the state requires a special exception for CCRCs on R1. And further you learn that every component of a CCRC is either disallowed or requires a special exception on R1 except……..when it is packaged together as a CCRC. These are not sleepy retirement communities for seniors. They are substantial commercial operations. And this one plops it’s buildings down 70 feet from the property line. And we are not supposed to be upset by that? To top it off, we then learn that the developer had the zoning code changed to benefit the project just days before making the plans public. So it really doesn’t matter how much research you do, well connected developers can simply change the rules at will when you have a corrupt government.
None of us speaking out against this development are calling for no development. None are arguing that the developer does not have the right to do what he pleases (within the zoning code). None of us arguing that landowners do not have the right to make a profit. The issue is when they are using their property in such a way that it negatively impacts the property values of the surrounding landowners. That is a main purpose of the zoning code to set forth rules to protect property values. A CCRC could be welcomed on this property if it had a little respect for the surrounding neighborhoods. And the other big issue we are upset is not so much with development but with our government for allowing developers to take complete control of the zoning code. This started at the top with David Craig who basically gutted every protection we as citizens have in the process. And ends with the council who passes every request the planning department puts before them without question. The council sits as the board of appeals on zoning cases but is also largely elected by the developers.
Bottom line is that you two clowns laugh now, but just wait until something pops up in your backyard. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

@community inputted, your comments very thorough and well-done. As an almost life-long citizen of this county, I have said before how saddened I am to have seen a place that I loved so much (Harford county) turn into a sea of housing developments, strip malls, shopping sprawl, and the like…in the name of progress. The Eva Mar property is one of the most beautiful untouched areas around and it is a crime that the owners weren’t able to preserve it.
I have long known our local government is corrupt in ways the average citizen has no idea. Its disgusting but we have no one to blame but ourselves for continuing to vote these lying, cheating, stealing, wheeling-dealing thieves in office.
This is no longer a county that I am proud to call home to, and I am looking forward to the day, when I retire, to leave for good and not look back.
yuppies smell like cabbbage says
Just what we need, more cheap built housing for top dollar prices that end up in foreclosure and short sales a few years later.
Every other Friday is a big relief to drive back in this county, even more so when schools are closed. The “I’m more important than you” types come flying off the 715 ramp much faster than the route 40 speed limit at rush hour, changing lanes without blinkers, tail gating. Sausage gaggers drive this road everyday, one has to know its congested everyday. Changing lanes will just get you up to the next cluster of cars sitting at the red light.
