From Harford County Public Schools:
The Board of Education of Harford County named Jillian V. Lader manager of communications at its public business meeting February 24. Her appointment will begin March 17 as she fills the vacancy left by the resignation of Ms. Teri Kranefeld in January.
Mrs. Lader’s career with Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) began in 2005 as a classroom paraeducator at Hall’s Cross Roads Elementary School. She joined the Human Resources Department of Investigations in 2006 and served two years before becoming the human resources recruitment and retention specialist. In that capacity, she designed and implemented current recruitment strategies and marketing materials for HCPS. As the primary point of contact for recruitment efforts, Mrs. Lader would speak on behalf of the school system at colleges and universities across the country.
In her most recent position as a human resources staffing specialist, she continued to work with stakeholders outside of the system while focusing on establishing support for individual school needs. Her experience and proven leadership working with the school system for the last nine years clearly illustrated why she is the choice candidate for the appointment.
“Jillian Lader will be a tremendous asset to the senior level management of Harford County Public Schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Barbara Canavan. “I have the utmost confidence in her ability to serve our school system in the role of Manager of Communications. I look forward to her serving as a member of our Leadership Team.”
Dr. Anthony Bess, principal of Havre de Grace Middle School, expressed his support of Mrs. Lader. “She is a consummate professional, deft communicator and trusted advisor who has an uncanny ability to remain calm in demanding environments.”
Mrs. Lader completed her Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts and earned a Master of Business Administration at Wilmington University in Wilmington, Delaware. She has served on many committees in Harford County, is a member of the inaugural HCPS Central Office Leadership Academy and has spearheaded HCPS events to establish open communication between administrators, supervisors and future educators.
“Communications plays an important role in ensuring our students receive the best education and support possible,” stated Lader. “As a product and resident of Harford County Public Schools, I am committed to engaging and effective communication to ensure the future success of the students of our school system.”

If Dr. Bess feels she is right for the job, then that is good enough for me.
Not so sure says
is she old enough?
Teachers are fed up says
$97,000 a year she is getting paid. Starting salary. A teacher with a masters degree and 20 years experience does not even come close to that. Just awful. Why is no one up in arms? Its a good thing teachers are sheep right? No respect for HC teachers. SMH

Did you really expect to work 9 months a year and pull in 100K when you started teaching?

The Money Tree says
Gosh top salary for teachers is 72K, this lady makes 97K. If you prorate the summer’s off it’s really not that different (72/9) vs. (97/11 – assuming 4 weeks vaca).
