From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the deputy involved in Wednesday’s police involved shooting. Deputy First Class Bryan Walker, 34, a seven-year member of the Sheriff’s Office, remains on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation into shooting of Brian Matthew Ogle, 26 of 513 Crownwood Court, Edgewood.
Ogle was shot after he advanced on DFC Walker who repeatedly warned Ogle to put down a machete style knife. Ogle had fled from police after allegedly throwing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs. She managed to lock him out of the home. However, he then went to his car – broke in – and retrieved the knife. He attempted to force his way back into the house. As police arrived he fled into the woods. Deputies pursued him on foot to Rt. 24 where he then turned on the deputy coming at him with the knife. Dfc Walker, fearing for his safety, fired several times at Ogle striking and wounding him.
Ogle remains in stable condition at the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Unit. Warrants have been obtained charging Ogle with 2nd degree assault on Shannon Barkley as well as resisting arrest, attempted 1st and 2nd degree assault on a police officer, failure to obey a lawful order, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to injure.
