From Harford County government:
Harford County Department of Emergency Services employee Tamara Haney has been named the Harford County Employee of the Month for January 2014. Haney works as a Public Safety Dispatcher.
Haney was recognized for taking the initiative to organize a fundraiser in support of breast cancer awareness. She designed and created two t-shirts to sell, which raised $578.50 for Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
“This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart,” said Haney.
“Tamara is a stellar employee with an exemplary work ethic. The same holds true for her care of her coworkers and community,” said Noelle Adams, Public Safety Dispatcher who nominated Haney for the award.
“This was an opportunity to give back to the community in ways that extended beyond the quality work she performs during the course of her job-related responsibilities. It brought the department together for a common cause,” said Russell Strickland, Director of Emergency Services.
This was the first year for the breast cancer awareness fundraiser, but Haney hopes to raise more money next year.
