From MartinoBlum:
The 25th annual Festival at Bel Air Halloween Costume Contest and Trick-or-Treating event went off without a hitch on Saturday, October 26, 2013. The weather cooperated with an absolutely gorgeous cool fall day, and the costumes were inventive and colorful. Over 2,000 children by best estimate came to the Festival, accompanied in many cases by several adults per child, to see the event and trick-or-treat the stores, about 45 of whom participated.
In the contest, the judges first narrowed down about 200 entrants to 30 semi-finalists and then 10 finalists; the crowd then “voted” for the winners by applause and cheers . All finalists received gift bags and the 4 top winners received gift certificates to various Festival stores. Winners were:
1st place: Emily Kron from Havre de Grace, as the Geico Money Girl.
2nd: Sophia MacKinnon from Bel Air as the Minion (from Despicable Me).
3rd: Joshua and Jacob Riggs from Joppa as a Ravens Nest.
4th: Andrew Lebis from Bel Air as a Rocket-man.
Other finalists were dressed as a Cereal Family; a Lego Man; a Man in the Wind; a Cat & Mouse; the cast from Ghostbusters; a Sea Anemone and more!
The event began with line-up at 10:30 am and continued right up to 2 pm with trick-or-treating. For a photo gallery, visit http://www.facebook.com/festivalbelair.
