The Aberdeen Eagles improved to 5-3 and kept their MPSSAA playoff hopes alive with a 43-13 win over the Havre de Grace Warriors Friday night at James Harris Stadium.
Aberdeen jumped out to a 15-0 first quarter lead and never looked back, spoiling Havre de Grace’s homecoming. Lavell McCullers threw two touchdown passes in the opening frame- a 40 yarder to Mark Meynisse and a 41 yarder to Tavaughn Coleman.
The Eagles led 29-0 at the half.
Havre de Grace would get on the board in the third. An 11 yard touchdown run by Jordan Hawthorne made the score 36-6, as the extra point attempt was blocked.
The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth, as Havre de Grace back up quarterback Geno Nappi threw a 74 yard touchdown to Josh Penn and Charles Jennings ran one in from five yards out to complete the scoring.
Aberdeen will play it’s first true home game of the year next Friday against Perryville. Not only will it be homecoming for the Eagles, it will be their first ever game on the brand new turf field at Aberdeen High School.
Havre de Grace will be at Patterson Mill.
