You may want to begin campaigning on the entire eastern shore. They love Harris over there, and as long as he is representing their views his chances of being reelected are very good. Only a portion of Harford, Baltimore, and Anne Arundel Counties are included in Harris’ district along with the entire eastern shore.
I have a second home in west ocean city area. I can assure you that the permanent residents over there love Harris. Eastern shore folks could care less about federal shutdowns.

Kratvoil thought he could remain in office because he was from the eastern shore and as long as he voted “for the most part” in concert with their views. He was wrong. The eastern shore is very conservative.
Not really as conservative as you think. They are on social issues but they trend very moderate. Gilchrest was a moderate and got along great. Kratovil actually voted against the ACA he was painted as being for it by Andy Harris and his carpet bag club for growth. I think a moderate Eastern Shore NAtive of either party can trounce him. Yes Kratovil voted against the ACA in an effort to save his seat. The eastern shore folks knew exactly why he voted against it. It was not his actions regarding ACA that got him unseated. It was his overall voting record. You can be a Democrat and get elected from the eastern shore, however, your voting record needs to be on the conservative side to remain in office.

The sad thing is, the Teapublicons will turn out in force. What none of them realize is that when you break the bond between the employee needing healthcare from the company who provides it, you have no reason to “hold” any employee who wants to start a business. I started mine and gave a up a great job with bennies and took the plunge, but it took me years to work up the money and courage to go it alone. If I had to pay for it myself (which I do now that I am established) earlier, I could have been doing this for 25 years instead of 10, made myself wealthy and hired more people. Part of their job is the funding. So, as they won the seats to control they House, they now control a major aspect of the funding. As such, they can choose to do, just as the Democrats have done in the past, what they think is best; including not funding an act.

In this issue it is so unfathomably childish and simple to say the government was shut down “by the President”, I’m not even sure how to address my statements to a sitting member of Congress. It seems the only way to do so would as a parent to a toddler, with the understanding that the toddler would have no solid grasp of the matter.

I think the key word in the headline was “inappropriately”… the implication being that the administration attempts to cherry pick what will be the most painful to the public and thereby increase rancor toward the opposition. The same accusations were made during the furlough. I’m more concerned with the apparent lack of concern by Obama’s supporters that he has decided he is entitled to grant a delay for certain groups and not all… is “fair” just a weather term these days? I can only assume the large companies that approached him for these delays are heavy contributors to re-election campaigns (or will be now) and that sort of bribery is even more disturbing than the clear problems with the entire law to begin with. I suspect Obama could line up the entire population and repeatedly count off 1,2,3 and tell all the two’s they can have a delay but the rest of you can’t… and his supporters would applaud his keen intellect in such a choice. Bottom line still stands… it’s a plan from DC so it’s crap.

I typed in the terms you gave me and the first hit was a blaze article about the topic. The blaze article linked me to a blog that was just a list of groups. No support for anything was provided. All it had was a list on a blog!!!!
So, like I stated, there was an article. Look at the bottom of the article, it actually says, ‘Share this article’. If you read what I initially said, ‘According to one article, nearly 200 of such entities are still operating.’. Now, look at the Blaze article, it says, ‘The list of those 174 organizations is here (with the here being a link).’
Why are you arguing with me over this when you are so clearly wrong?

Please cite one submitted budget from the Republicans since Obamacare was in place that does not “defund” Obamacare (hence all the clean CR’s). I am sure if the Dem’s shut down the govt to give a lesson to Bush on his tax cuts, all hell would have broken loose from the conservative side, especially if they attempted to overturn it 44 times unsuccessfully. Insanity is the act of repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. This is Boehner’s shutdown, own it. 0 for 44, sit on the bench until you get organized.

The President is thankful for the government shutdown. It’s quite apparent, otherwise he would have accepted the CR with a delay of part of ACA implementation for a year.
It was more important to the President to gin up political drama to distract people from his failures in foreign policy and the US economy.
Why accept a delay in a law that it seems the majority of people are in favor of. Most people did not support the tactic of attaching this to a CR. Even People who hate the ACA did not support it.
