Harford County community leaders will showcase their ballroom dancing talents and compete for top honors at the 6th Annual “Dancing for the Arts” to benefit the Center for the Art on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Bulle Rock Residents’ Club. The “Stars” are taking private dance lessons with professional dance instructors from Dancing with Friends. The evening will include an open bar, sumptuous food, the dancing competition, live auction, and dancing after the competition. The live auction will include a 14kt Rose Gold Diamond Infinity Necklace valued at $1,500 donated by Saxon’s Diamond Centers; 5 days and 4 nights at the Ocean Spa Hotel or Laguna Suites Golf and Spa in Cancun, Mexico; VIP tickets to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Wheel of Fortune and much more. The Honorary Chair is Tamera Rush, Vice President Defense STG, Inc. and winner of the “Judges Choice Award” at the 2012 gala. The emcee is Jamie Costello, news anchor for ABC2 News.

The Harford “Stars” will compete for the awards for the “Judges Choice Award” dancing award, and for first, second, and third place “Fundraising Awards”. The public can help choose the “Top Fundraising Award” by going to www.DancingForTheArts.org to vote for their favorite dancer by making a donation to the Center for the Arts (1 vote = $1). Gala attendees will have the opportunity to continue voting at the event on Saturday, September 21, 2013. The dancer receiving the most votes at the end of the evening will receive the “Top Fundraising Award”. Deborah Pro-Marshall, Judge Angela Eaves, Tony Meoli, and Mark Welsh are returning to choose the “Judges Choice Award”.

The money raised will help sustain the Center for the Arts as they move forward to build a regional Center for the Arts in Harford County. The Center for the Arts is a 501( c)(3) organization dedicated to nurturing art, artists, and community by providing a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences through quality arts education, presentation & exhibit in the disciplines of music, dance, theatre, & the visual, traditional & literary arts. The Center for the Arts will also include special event and business meeting space as well as a heritage museum for Harford County.
